Trump doesn't like an ad Ontario played about tariffs using Reagan so he has cut off all trade talks.
DoFo wasted $75 million of Ontario cash on those ads.
Lousy use of public money, DoFo won't stay in his lane and take care of the items in his portfolio.

But america is a mess right now, trump added $1 trillion in debt in 7 weeks.
There will be mass cuts to whats left of medicaid, ICE is very unpopular and the economy is in trouble because of the tariffs.
The AI bubble is the only thing keeping it afloat and that will crash.

There was a report on CNN this morning about American farmers being upset with Trump over his deal with Argentina for beef.

If you want to arrange trade talks with Trump, why even run that ad that could compromise it? This could turn out a huge diarrhea by DoFo...this could be a bigly mistake for him.

It's a difficult situation. Ford's video is accurate (despite what Trump says about it being fake), and it makes some sense that he was running it in MAGA territory...basically showing them that the tariffs were going to eventually hurt America (well, they already are), maybe as catastrophically as the Great Depression (most economists say that Hoover imposing tariffs made the stock market crash go from a recession that would have been painful for a a year or two, to the Great Depression, which was devastating for a decade or so...). The idea was basically cause the citizens to call their local congressman and bitch about the tariffs, and stop them. We should also remember that these tariffs are illegal, since Trump is using the "emergency" powers very loosely, and congress is the ones who actually pass tariff bills...Something they've been cut out from, and the GOP has no interest in upseting dear leader by rebuking his poorly thought out trade program.

But, at the same time, we know Trump is incredibly thin skinned, and thinks that anything that is against him (truthful or not) is garbage and should be punished.

I suspect that this will be a TACO move, and talks will resume in a week or two. Maybe Carney has to do some damage control, or Ford apologizes. Remember, we're not dealing with a rational leader. He is vain and responds VERY favourably to ass-kissing and flattery.

Now, could this money have been better spent? Probably. Almost for sure. But, at the same time, I sort of like the bold action Ford took. Did it backfire? In the short term, yeah. In the long term, hard to say. Remember, many MAGA folks don't believe they'll be the ones who eventually pay the tariffs, or that it will hurt the US economy. But, eventually, they might.

What you have to do is isolate him from the world. If no one communicates with them he’ll really blow a gasket. Take our softwood lumber rather than shipping it down to states ship it to China Europe Asia anywhere but USA. Same thing with oil gas start building the refineries here that we can be self-sufficient, and sell it to the rest of the world again but the USA. The wheat everywhere else. Sooner or later his tan is going to go from orange to intense red. And to other little things when the Blue Jays when the world series and like all winning teams they get invited to the White House the team should, politely decline were going out to Maple season. And his Lordship wants to hold the G20 I think it is at His Pl. in Florida fine everybody agrees to attend and then at the last minute no one shows up it will put him in his place but for that to happen everyone or the majority has to agree to it quietly. Just think of it you throw a birthday party for yourself and no one shows up how would you feel?

Just hit Trump back with export tariffs, that's all you got to do.

Mainly hit him on potash, uranium, steel, aluminum and nickel.

But it would take a Prime Minister with serious balls to do that, because Trump might view that as an act of war since the US desperately needs potash to grow their food crops

What I am finding amazingly interesting is that in spite of what the biggest idiot the White House has ever seen does [ and the most ineffectual ] the stock market keeps going up. And who would have thought it the Canadian market is up strongly today.

Yes Trump can move the market the day that he makes his usual idiot policy announcement but other than for a day or two it largely ignores the idiot.

Big business while brown nosing and humouring him also largely ignores the fool .

While certain of our industries have been hurt by the tariffs maybe Trump will end up being the best thing that ever happened to the Canadian economy - our export markets will expand and our industries exporting will expand out of necessity.

Meanwhile the 40% of Americans still stupid enough to still support him are either those profiting by hanging on [ insiders etc. ] or in many cases those employed in the industries and the states that his policy's are hurting the most. I say buy Canadian or anywhere else that we can outside of the USA and hopefully some of the idiots that continue to support this fascist pig will see the error of their ways.

It was done in bad taste...how can you make a deal if your agenda is to run an ad opposing the very essence of what Trump ran for?

Trump is crushing American ranchers and farmers on purpose. His pals billionaires, are ready to buy them for pennies on the dollar.

These farmers and ranchers will eventually realize they voted for the guys that fuck them up in the ass, without their consent.

Trump ran for office to impose tariffs to benefit his pockets and his billionaire friends. He did not run for the shit he talked about.

I am happy Ford is the only one to have balls and act against the pig. Denounce the pig. Over the long term, Ford will win.
