The funny thing is that there are TWO Triumphs in my apartment building parking garage:

1.) Sad looking teal green TR8 roadster covered in an inch of dust. It's certainly not moved this year, or maybe even last year for that matter...

2.) Nice looking bright red TR6 which if not in perfect condition seems to be driven regularly...

Being the English guy I am, I'd always wanted a TR-8 but never had the courage to buy one... LOL

I HAVE owned a BRG Miata and all I can say is that the wife was sorry to see it go and I wasn't ... too small, too underpowered and I found the seats very uncomfortable after 1 hour...

Yes the handling was great but quite frankly I believe a Mazdaspeed Protege or Mazda3 would give it a run for its money on a country road... FWD or not...

Yeah, the Miata is small. Definitely not a long distance touring car.

But wouldn't the run between the Mazdas be fun, no matter which car you were in? (I'll take the Miata..hehehe)

BTW, all the old British cars, my fave is the Triumph GT6+....the small and tossable like the Spit, with the power of a 6. Neat.

Yes, the GT6 was a neat car and rare as hell... or how about the V8 powered MGB GT ??

After my parents were married in 1965, my Dad used their wedding money to by a used Jag XK150 coupe for 150 pounds !

He's very proud of the fact that he and my Mom used to put my baby basket BEHIND the seat before their country rides...

Obviously the world was alot "simpler" in those days ! LOL

hehe...speaking of small cars, knew a University student who rode from Timmins to Toronto in the back of a Lotus Elan!

That takes commitment!!

I liked the TR6 too, but coming from Britain, and being interested in the top-down british sports cars, my fav. and the one you simply can't beat was the E-Type jag - or XKE. Nothing in this world is like looking under the l o n g, packed hood of the V12 with 4 carbs.

Ah now that was power!

Hehe...the guys in the S2000s who are cleaning up at Solo 1 events will be upset to hear that their cars are only image cars.
You didn't read the very first sentence I wrote. Let me repeat it so that you can read it again.

Unless you are on a racetrack where you are always moving, the S2000 is really an overated car.

On the street it looses bigtime. Not enough torque to get it moving from a standstill and you attract too much attention doing so because you have to rev it so high. All you'll be seeing is the tailights of many cars unless you are willing to drop the clutch from 6000 rpm.

The street and racetack are two different places.

Low end torque is what wins on the street, not horsepower. Torque is what gets you moving and is what pushes you back in the seat, which is also the sensation people want. Horsepower gets you the mph. The combination of the two is what gives you the time.

The S2000 is a high reving, high for it's horsepower displacement motor, but it lacks the torque. As a matter of fact, they bored it out from 2 to 2.2 litres with no increase in horsepower so that they could get more torque at a lower rpm, so the car should actually be named the S2200.

Kinda depends on which people, doesn't it?

You called the S2000 an 'image car.' That is what I was speaking to.

The S2000 is very good at what it was designed to do. No, drag racing isn't one of those things.
