Well this Italian says they are lucky to be in it at all. Their egos are what is stopping them from actually producing any quality on the field.

They will not make it beyond the quarter finals with their current quality of play.

For those of my paesans who continually say that Italy is the best, they won't watch another soccer game after July 9th for the next four years as their bandwagon is departing.

For us true soccer fans, we know that they don't have what it takes unless things change drastically. They have the talent, but not the passion.

That being said. Here's hoping.

They have always been known as spoiled hotheads and that'll never change!

But winning is everything and if think for a moment that it's not an honour to represent your country on the biggest stage in the WORLD, think again!

The passion is there you can see it after the big win today from all teammates! They certainly have the talent and are one of the best defensive teams on earth even without a key player like Nesta out.

VIVA ITALIA!

Well its always to easy to see passion after a win.

They started out like this in 1982 and turned things around. So who knows.

I have to admit he was good in this game, so man of match deservedly.

I just hate him. lol. Cause he plays for Juve and I'm an AC Milan & Roma fan.

even in 1982, I thought Brazil was huge favourite to win it all, and Italy really turned on the scoring. Italians have a couple of strikers who are known goal scorers in Serie A.....if statistics mean anything they will have to have multiple goal scoring games to get back to their averages.

......but maybe not...i don't see their defense being great either. They are not showing any particular greatness in speed, skill and they seem to be lacking in height for the air game.

I am by no means a soccer expert... I watched the game today and in my opinion Italy had no business winning this game. Australia outplayed them even when they were at even strength.

I have watched several games and find the Italians to be a very dirty team that likes to dive and cry to the referees.

If they do go on to win this tournament it won't be because they are a good team, I would say a lucky team is more like it.

Another guy who sees "winning as everything". It served the bum who runs juventus pretty well huh?

I wonder what the bigger honour is....telling everyone you play for Italy or telling everyone you play serie "a":D

I think Italy easily outplayed the Aussies in the first.........the second half was easily Australias game.......but if you say they were playing shorthanded ..that explains a bit.

dude what game did you watch? easily out played the Aussies in the 1st? Is that why OZ had 73% of the possession for 30 mins and and 55% of it after 45mins (the first half)???

Easily??? That definitely isnt the word you are looking for.

Italy is lucky not to play a real TOP class team with that kinda nonsense they playing and now they get an easy passage thru to the semis since they will be facing a one man team in the quarters. One man team because Rebrov is on his last legs and isnt the same player he was 5 to 10 years ago.

A referee makes a mess of another game ...
I did not see the game so it is hard for me to comment if it was a foul or not, but wouldn't the referee know that by making that call at that time of the game he was in essense giving the game to Italy. For me, given the context of the game, I would make sure it was a blantant foul before calling it.

I saw the Italians play the USA and based on that game I am shocked they have gotten this far.
