So tonight I'm walking home from work, still wearing the suit and I see a group of 8 - 10 people all wearing Toronto nametags carrying clipboards. I fugure they're the volunteer homeless surveyors. As I walk pass them, I nod and smile. One of them stops and addresses me - "Excuse me sir. My name is J___ and I'm working with the City of Toronto to do a survey on the homeless." I acknowledge this and mention I heard about it on CBC. He then asks me "Are you staying indoors tonight or in a shelter?"

I work in the financial district. I'm wearing a rather expensive suit. What the fark does this guy think? (Can he think?)

So I just say, "Well ... indoors." He replies "OK. Thank you sir. Just asking everyone."

So, for the record, The Ass Slapper has been surveyed and he's staying indoors tonight.

They arent volunteers, as I understand they get about $100 each for doing the surveys, each person they interview gets $5 in fast food vouchers.

We you know Socialists, Any kind of profiling is wrong. Of course with that line of thinking any kind of data they collect on this survey will have to be destroyed because it could lead to profiling. God forbid someone takes the survey info and compiles a "Shakey Lady" list of scammers or board high school goths ;). What are they going to do once they get the info? Free lunches, Needles, Bottled water, More fountains for bathing, Pay & benifits packages, Quartery bonues, Stock options, recruitment drives for under represented areas of the city?

$100 each, how does this break down for a per hour rate? Perhaps these surveyors should join a union?

You know I used to date a homeless gal. There were a lot of downsides to the relationship however one good thing was that after a date I could just drop her off anywhere.

I think this program (in theory) could really do wonders! Who knows how many street people Toronto really has??? Maybe if we have a better idea of the number of people, we can create a solutions for them.

I can't believe this action wasn't taken sooner.
(** P.O'd voice switched on**) The "action " has always been blocked by the people who run the homeless industry .. eliminating the homeless means the 250 mil that T.O gives the advocacy groups goes away as does 100K a year "consulting" jobs (** P.O'd voice switched off*)
good nature restored..

Yes I used to watch him harass Breakfast Television. Loved him. Cameras did everything to avoid him but he was crafty.

Interesting article in today's Sun about the homeless situation in NYC. The gist of the piece was that rather than accept the problem, New York is attempting to get at the root cause and actually decrease the number of homeless.

Root cause.....I would guess that about 1/3 have acute or chronic psychiatric problems. They cannot care for themselves and never will. One third have substance abuse problems and they are always going to be difficult. About 1/3 are those that are temporarliy down on ther luck and I guess these individuals will eventually (with or without our help) leave the street.

f*ck the homeless-there is only 2 options for these pieces of shit of society,it would be cheaper on us taxpayers if we just put them all on airplanes & a 1 way ticket to Alert with nothing except the clothes on their back,if they can make it back, they can stay:hopefully, they'll end up frozen to death or option 2-we round them up & make them into dog food--i'm sure my neighbour's dog would love some ground Chuck or whatever his name was:p

Most of them are homegrown, we just emptied the institutions with no consideration of where the people would end up. Any one of us could easily be in their shoes.

I think having Janda survey them would brighten their days, possibly lighten their loads. ;)
