I know it's $6 after 5 pm and on weekends. My question is this: Is the $6 worth it to dissuade the crowds or is it still crazy busy on weekends?

I don't mind paying $6 if it's still bearable but if it's elbow room only even with the $6 then I'll probably stick to weeknights.

Net proceeds from ticket sales are:

Reinvested into the festival's infrastructure, programming and new high quality installations
Used to help provide nutritious food to people struggling with hunger through a charitable partnership with Daily Bread Food Bank
Used to help children and families in developing countries break the cycle of poverty through a charitable partnership with Plan International Canada
Used to provide gifts to underprivileged children through a charitable partnership with the Toronto Star Santa Claus Fund

I'm sure they also realize that most people would be going there on the weekend, so that would be the best time to generate revenue.

The crowds were very, very big last night (Saturday), even with the ticket price. It's still fun, but I felt that it wasn't as good as two years ago (last time I went). There was no really open area with fire pits on the ground and no roasting pig. They still had the turkey legs though, and the pink forest was different.

I went last year when they included the fee because I never wanted to deal with the crazy crowds that had been associated with the event in previous years. I found it to be acceptable, and based on what people told me who had gone in prior years, it was a major difference.

I don't know how things are going this season, but I will be going again soon and will have a basis of comparison... so I'll let you know! Can't wait to buy an overpriced Fred Flintstone turkey leg to be enjoyed with a whiskey infused mulled cider, and then finished off with a nice hot chocolate.

It is crazy busy. The turkey drumsticks are quite disgusting and when they tell you the price you laugh out loud.

I have no crystal ball about how many people are doing to be there. If the weather is good, there will be a big crowd. If the weather is bad, the crowd won't be as big. It's no different than any other festival around town.

I've actually just heard about this from a client, and I'm hoping to go tomorrow evening. It sounds like fun and I'm glad I found this thread because not much info was given to me. I hear the hot apple cider is amazing. What else is there to do there?

I've heard a lot about it but still haven't been yet. That will change very soon! It looks like fun. http://www.torontochristmasmarket.com/activities.html
