Do you guys tip independent MAs or SPs you see? I rarely do, and my rational is that they do not pay overhead like the club or agency fee. On the other hand, the argument may be if you see them incall they have to pay rent/hotel fee,... but if you see them outcall. Anyways, just my thoughts. Would love to hear ideas.

An indy has to provide an incall or pay for/arrange transportation to an outcall. Either of these is an expense for her.
Incall - If it's a first encounter, I usually usually leave a tip if booking was a breeze, and if I really enjoy the company and the service. Subsequent incalls - a tip included with my initial payment, or a modest gift if I know there is something she enjoys.
Outcall - Depends of whether she charges an additional fee (for transportation) for the outcall. If so, I tend not to tip unless she voluntarily stays longer than expected or the service is exceptional. On subsequent visits, a tip and/or a gift.
Gifts....typically pet treats if she has a pet(s), chocolate, gourmet pastries, high quality coffee, flowers (orchids).
...but then I've been told that I have 'excellent reviews'.

Tip is totally not necessary! You’re mannerisms, character, and chemistry (beyond your control of course!) are far more important, if not more. I have “ghosted” clients even if they’ve left tips because my comfort is way more important.
As far as overhead goes, your afterthought is correct: depending on the city and location of incall, you can do the math and figure ballpark what her incall cost of rent is alone. Not to mention the hydro/laundry machine card costs, transportation, and advertising (easily in the hundreds if this is her main occupation). And for those of us who like to go the extra mile for our play dates, there are manicure/pedicures ($75 easy), make up, wardrobe, and possibly cosmetic procedures like facial treatments for those who want to feel sexiest in their skin for their boy toys.

Indie or non-indie, I usually bring something to see a lady, and I'll also leave a tip after I have a good time - as a token of my appreciation.
I too like to bring a little gift with me when i see a lady for the first time, I wish more MA's would have a wish list so that it makes it easier to find out what they like. And if the session is awesome i will also enhance the tip with an extra cash donation. These ladies work very hard to make us feel good and it feels good to know they know they are appreciated.
