Time Taken to Close Threads

Why is it that some threads seem to be closed very quickly and some take almost 100 posts to come down. Just curious since there was a recent thread about a certain SP that got nasty and almost went to 100 posts of negativity. I won't mention a name since everyone knows the SP I am referring to. Regardless, this particular thread should have been closed a lot sooner when things got nasty and completely off-topic. IMO a lot of the messages were a personal attack on that SP and continued negative stereotypes of all SP's.

We do have the freedom to vent and say what we want, but most of this thread went too far. In other words, we should learn to use this freedom responsibly. Most people were not commenting about the SP in question, but ideals that the terb community thinks that all SP's 'should' follow. Worst off, some of the posts were downright insulting and uncalled for. Anyone would lash out at those attacks.

Honestly, I think that all of us need to learn to take a 'breather' before writing something on the forum (especially negative criticism) regardless of how 'smart' or 'right' it makes you look. The forum is for information purposes so we can share our experiences and give feedback to SP's and agencies. It does no one any good when we attack an SP or agency. We also need to learn how to write constructive criticism even if you got B&S or had a bad experience with an SP. The phrase 'be a man' comes to mind. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but men don't belittle a lady even in written form or write a bunch of nonsense that has nothing to do with a thread's original topic. I know it is frustrating when things don't go as you expect, but we just need to learn to deal with it; not just hobbying, but in our daily lives.

I would hope that the MODS pay closer attention to these types of threads in the future. I also hope that the next time you have a bad hobbying experience, that you take time to think about what you're writing before hitting the 'submit' button.

Happy hobbying gentlemen.

I was just curious MOD. Sorry to have offended you and for asking. My impression was that there are multiple MODS on this forum, guess I was wrong. I wasn't 'unhappy' with the situation; I was just noticing a trend on the forum that the threads are getting out of control especially when it comes to giving negative feedback about an SP. Like I said, I was just wondering why the SP had to ask to close the thread after repeated attacks or posts that had nothing to do with the OP's message. I realize that you also have other things going on in your life, but it looked like this particular thread was allowed to go on longer than some. Feel free to prove me wrong on this one.

If my comments or observations bother you, please don't reply since I have no desire to get into or start another argument.

HEY, EXPLORERZIP DUDE, don't try to get my thread closed! LOL. MOD, don't listen to him! LOL.

I've been trying to stay away from that thread (Me, staying away from my own thread, go figure), because once I show my face, some son-of-a-bitch is gonna use the opportunity to get into a pissing match, like he has throughout the thread. And I'm not talking about Wondery either. I have a few choice words for him, but those can't be printed. LOL.

It's a great thread, with a lot of inside scoop and the inner workings of the industry. It's a good debate, where people share their opinions and ideas--good or bad. It's unfortunate that someone used a slur, but if that is the case, then the individual should be warned. You don't close a thread because of one bad apple.

No worries Apoc1. I got better things to do than trying to shut down your threads :p

Debate is good as long as it's based on facts not on slurs, stereotypes or meaningless stuff. Debate or not, we could try to be a bit more objective and 'nicer' with our criticism. The world already has a Kevin O'Leary.

Sadly, there was quite a few of negative stereotypes flying around in that thread that weren't based on facts. Especially since we're not privy to what is actually going on in that lady's life nor could we ever know. It just went downhill from there with the lady in question playing defence with the others getting their kicks in even if with irrelevant comments.

Don't know about you, but kicking someone when they're down is pretty low in my books even if they deserve it.

I'm pretty sure Apoc1 and explorerzip are talking about two different threads. Both threads went off the rails to varying degrees. Hopefully all participants can learn to keep their comments civil and on point.

Being a moderator is easy

Being a moderator is easy. We sit in our captains chairs with an sp sitting on each arm and drinking champagne while banning people just for fun. Our wide screen monitors are in HD1080p split screen which helps us monitor the cameras in the massage parlours. We have a few thousand hours of tape now. And, of course, there’s all the freebees we get from the ladies.

Now to reality.

We field questions from advertisers.
We field complaints from advertisers
We field questions from terbites
We field complaints from terbites
We try and stop all the spam that gets/tries to get on Terb
We try and calm down posters who get over excited while posting in threads.
We monitor chat.
We ensure Fred gets his double double first thing every morning
We edit out comments like “she was 13 and her boyfriend was about 25. She was trying to sell herself and he was selling 420”.
We edit out or delete threads that contain illegal acts in massage parlours, strip clubs etc.
We stop and deleted posters trying to “out” SPs by posting their names and addresses.
Then there are the advertisers who try and post more than one ad per day. Yep have to delete that and remind them.
We scan all thread in an attempt to head off problems.
Oh and we try and move all threads started in the wrong forum to the correct forum.
etc. etc. etc.

One SP once told me to take a fucking break. Fucking break I replied. I can’t even get a coffee break.

Hell, I want a raise.

I feel much better now.

Yeah, let's hope civility makes a come back in here and out in the real world. Terb community: shake hands with the SP's. SP's: shake hands with Terb community. There everyone is better now. It's like a school yard in here sometimes.

I wish no hard feelings or ill will on the MODs, but this community is also a business that makes money from ads. It may not be millions, thousands or even hundreds, but I'd hope that it puts a bit of money in someone's pocket. While I now see and truly appreciate the lengths the MODS go through to prevent thermonuclear war on this board, you've still chosen to do them and to structure the business that way.

I'm sure there everyone has suggestions on what you should or shouldn't do, but I won't go there. It's your business and you run it how you want and hopefully it's structured to give you minimal grief.
