So I just saw Interstellar and loved the first 70% of the movie...all up to the point before they went inside the black hole.
I loved how they explained and showed theory of relativity, especially that they needed to consider it's effects like fuel, oxygen, etc...while deciding on the best mission.
On that the first planet they visited their couple of hours on that ground was 20+ years to the guy waiting for them in space craft just above the planets orbit.
I have two questions that I can not make sense of....
1st - How could their bodies survive such a strong gravitational pull from the balck hole on that planet. This did not make sense.
2nd - how would they appear to the guy floating in space and out of the gravitational pull.If he had a powerful microscope and looked down on that planet, would he see the crew on the ground moving extremely slow to a point they seemed to stand still. Can't really comprehend how this would work?
I thought that this movie was based on some solid theories...just hoping fellow geeks can help me make sense of this.
I am good with the principles of time dilation just a bit confused how practical it is if we had a black hole near by to orbit.
