This took way too long to happen.

With all the talk of taking women's allegations seriously Toronto Police, in my opinion, did not either take these seriously or did not react quickly enough to the allegations.

Action needs to be swift in order to give other women the belief in the system and for them to come forward.

If found guilty I hope they give them maximum sentences.

Maybe (I hope) the culture will change with a new Police Chief being appointed. Has the time come for the Chief to not come from within the Police service?

Constable Leslie Nyznik sounds like just the type of Officer we need on the TPS.

Ironically it was that very case, among others, that Chief Bill Blair used as an example in an internal video he sent to all police officers back in March of 2013 slamming “unacceptable behavior.”

In the video he said: “If you want to be an idiot, you don’t get to be an idiot in our uniform. You don’t get to be an idiot diminishing our organization and you can’t hide behind the badge.”
Maybe Nyznik figured gang rape was okay while off duty!

Trial continues. It will be interesting to see what happens to these Cops.

TORONTO - When they were done raping her, she says one of the cops asked his friends if they still wanted to get a hooker for the rest of the night.

The Toronto parking enforcement officer spent the morning on the witness stand giving harrowing testimony about how she was invited out for “Rookie Buys” night with police colleagues at 51 Division and ended up in a hotel room where she says she was sexually assaulted by three cops while she drifted in and out of consciousness.

Consts. Joshua Cabero, Leslie Nyznik and Sameer Kara have pleaded not guilty to sexual assault.

The woman, her name protected by a publication ban, often wiped away tears but otherwise gave her disturbing account in a strong, unwavering voice.

After joining Kara, who she knew as a friend from the station, at CC Lounge on the night of Jan. 16, 2015, she and a group of officers went on to Pravda Vodka House. She started the evening with a rum and coke and followed with several vodka and cranberries and three shots of tequila.

The attentive Kara then became sick at Pravda and was taken by a friend to the hotel room Nyznik had rented for them at the Westin Harbour Castle. The woman said she rejoined the party and told Nyznik, the one she knew best of the remaining officers, that he now had to look out for her. “I believe I said ‘You’re responsible for me now.’”

Instead, she alleges he was one of the three who would later assault her.

The group went on to the Brass Rail strip club for a time and since “it was still early,” she agreed to go with Cabero and Nyznik to the hotel.

Why would she go there?

The plan, she said, was to “go back to the hotel to pick up Sameer and go back out.” She thought she could trust them.

During the cab ride, she began feeling sick: A sudden excruciating headache, her vision was impaired, she was having trouble following the conversation. She remembered thinking that there was no way she was drinking any more that night.

In the hotel room, they found Kara sleeping in one of the double beds. She tried to wake him and get him to come out again. The next thing she remembers is lying on her back, with Nyznik coming towards her with his jeans at his ankles .

She told the court that he was forcing his penis into her mouth while someone else penetrated her vaginally, all while Kara lay asleep beside her. “I was completely unable to move,” she recalled. “I was trying to talk but I wasn’t able to form words.”

Kara did wake at one point, she said. “He said ‘Guys stop. Josh, stop. Come on, stop,” she recalled. “He said, ‘Josh, stop. She’s out.’”

They stopped and covered her with a blanket, she said.

When she woke again, Kara was sexually assaulting her while his friends were laughing, she said.

She told the judge-alone trial that she never consented to any of it. “I was powerless. I couldn’t move. I couldn’t talk. I couldn’t stop what was happening.”

Her next memory, she said, was hearing a conversation between the three officers about whether “they still wanted a hooker for the night.” It would cost them $200.

When she woke again, she dressed quickly and slipped out of the hotel room.

She was adamant about not telling anyone.

“There was no way I was going to report it,” she told Crown attorney Ted Ofiara. “I would have to go and tell their colleagues, their friends. At that point, I felt they would kill me if it got out.”

Maybe it's not part of their purview, but don't you think this is something the SIU should have investigated?

Foe anyone who knows how police unions think, whose side does the typical union member side with in this case?

Let's face it, when a cop does something stupid against the public, they all rally and try to protect their own butts. It's never their fault, sergeant gets on a stage and protects his officer, you know the drill. One big buddy buddy system where they all keep their mouths shut and hope nobody notices and films it.

But this time, it's cop vs cop.

So is the average cop rooting for the the accused party to be guilty as they assaulted one of their own? Or are they hoping they get off scott free because it helps protect their image?

Curious.
