Thinking about buying one of these.

Great res and size would be perfect as a comic book reader and hd media player (my two main applications for the tablet)

Like the expandable memory feature too.

Keyboard dock + extra battery life is cool too.

3g/4g capability is of no interest to me nor is using apple software.

anyone have any experience with it?

Have played around with these underpowered but overpriced tablets and still have NO use for them.

Still would take any netbook over them at ~half the cost....:thumb:

Why don't you wait and see how the Surface turns out or take a look at one of the Amazon tablets... Androd tablets (besides the Amazon offers) have been a complete failure in the market

Isn't the surface going to be very expensive?

As for netbooks.... I want something slimmer and more portable and with a larger screen. Power is not an issue as the applications I want are not really intense.

Basically I want a good sized screen for reading pdfs, comics and watching movies. Resolution isn't much of an issue for things other than movie.

Hmmmm read that hte surface is coming out in October. Close enough to be worth waiting to see the final price. Battery life will be of interest. Great that it comes with an i5 but you don't need that to read pdfs and watch movies.

I would expect it will be price competitive with the iPad - I don't know if that qualifies as "very expensive". If your OK with low-moderate res you can go with the cheaper Amazon tablets.

Personally I'd stick with Apple, Amazon or M$, I don't any of the others will get any traction.

One pundit's view, which may be worth what it costs you: http://www.cringely.com/2012/09/07/kindle-fire-hd-hurts-microsoft-more-than-apple/

Yeah the Kindle Fire HD is something that I am interested as well.

Think my timing is bad.

Will probably hold out to see the Kindle and Surface.

If I had to buy today it would probably be the Infinity over the ipad as it does a lot of the same stuff but slightly cheaper and I like the freedom of not being tied to apple products.... e.g. itunes, their video and audio formats etc.

Kindle sounds interesting but who knows rumours suggest the surface might be as cheap as 200 but I doubt that.
