Maybe. Maybe it was in the bathroom, maybe a back room. Not exactly “in public” the way you implied.

Or maybe it is just bad reporting and we can figure out that the assault started at the bar with her drink being spiked so it was reported as an assault at the bar.

It's a hotel bar. He could have easily carried her to somewhere "safe" and sexually assaulted her. I've been to clubs and parties where I've had to walk drunk girls outside for air.

Second, we don't know how he sexually assaulted her.

The GPS coordinates of the precise location where the alleged sexual assault occurred really don't matter all that much. Professor Plum with the Candlestick in the Ballroom is what's pertinent.
