Is the series finished ? I liked this program. The past couple episodes have been exciting and definitely leading up to something, but how bizzare to end a series this way ? I mean, there was no announcement or build up or fanfare in the papers - unless I missed it. They just blew up the precinct, a few twistes and turns, and that was that. Toward the end Sully makes a commentary about what everyone moved onto. Definitely makes me think it's over. Unless there will be a sequel about Sully's new life fishing in the woods !
Anyone have any thoughts ?

I was surprised that it was a series and not a season finale.
When the house was blown up I had to check www.nbc.com to see that it was the series finale.
I like the show and am sad to see it go.

I was surprised this was the SERIES finale too. It's a shame as it was one of the better shows on TV.

I agree, it was one of the better shows on tv right now. That was the series finale last night, they had an article in last Saturday's Toronto Star tv guide section. I only started watching it a few years ago. At least they brought Doc back for one last appearance.

It was the finale

It was one of my favourite shows too. I don't understand why they cancelled it and I'm sad to see it go as well.
At least they haven't cancelled Law & Order, the initial one. They changed the players but the format is still the same.
Thanx for your help.

It was one of my favourtie shows too. This year and last I thought they lost something though with Bosco being out of action and his partner(forget her name) being promoted.
I loved Sully's wife(years ago) story and that whole trouble.
And the episode when that paramedic was stabbed and killed by his brother.
I taped the show last night and still have to watch it. I hope the Hawaiin(lol) paramedic gets married(lol!), because for years he seemed the opposite.
I'm sad to see it go too.

On reflection, I don't know how I feel about Sully's talk about how happy the future was for everyone. (ok, the hispanic guy from anti-crime wasn't) Even Sullivan seemed happy being alone. (but what can you expect from TV)

There was a bit of a leadup in the Toronto Star TV magazine and I think some on-air promotion by the network. The character who had the biggest impact on me at the end was the hespanic (or something like that) female head of the anti-gang squad.

SPOILOR HERE ACKACK IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED YOUR TAPE YET!!!

To get even with a gang leader who double crossed here she blew herself up and about a dozen (or more!!!) other gang members.

Tough broad, played well by, I think, Tia Texada.

(Not to speak ill of the dead, but one selfish thought . . . wish she could have blown me before she blew that bunch!!!)

Series was cancelled a few months ago so they really did not have much time for a grand finale.

The series was not cancelled a few months back hun. It's a farking awesome show and in it's sixth season. :)
Yes, the season finale was aired on Friday night.

*just added*

If they did cancel it I WILL FARKING DIE!!!!!!!!
Start sending out the petitions and emails demanding they are freakin' retards and the show does not need to be cancelled.
People did the same thing with Family Guy when it ended in 2003 and after countless amounts of begging and harassing, here it is back on TV for it's 4th season after it being off the air for 2 years.

Okay, I'm going to look into this and see if there is a group/petition/etc. that has begun already for Third Watch and I will let you guys/gals know.

Annessa, that was the series finale. They had an article on it in last Saturday's Toronto Star TV section. It may be up to you to start a petition. I agree it was a great show, but they don't seem to last anymore. I wish they would bring back Boston Public, or at least another show with Jeri Ryan.

R.I.P. Third Watch

Third Watch has Always been one of my two fav shows and the other was NYPD Blue. Now they are both gone. I guess i will have more time too ahhh watch reruns of MASH i guess. The Final Episode ended pretty good with Sully talking about everyone and what they are doing now. NBC cancelled it because it was just costing too much about 2 million an episode and it was making the New yorkers nuts because of streets being closed at rush hour for the show. and of course they kept getting the worst time slots they should have stayed on at Mondays at 10pm. it was great how the show ended with sully at the cabin where he sobered up and saying "Ah Crap"

R.I.P. Third Watch may who ever cancelled you have no more success
