The most popular area for visitors seems to be the Wellington Rd and hwy 401 area where most chain hotels are located. For me it's not a fave because of the heavy traffic (from a Londoner's view point, close to the level of TO traffic). Check out the usual chains for their rates. Also check out ontario-erotic.com for tips and to meet the locals.

As mentioned, the Wellington Road South area is the "hub" of the biz.
Guys come in from as far as Michigan so being close to the 401 is nice.
Plus you have a HUGE mall near by to shop in. lol
Hotels range from "inexpensive" to medium cost to luxury level.

The Hilton is a pleasant place, have stayed there myself for conventions. It has a different appeal to those who may work downtown, but presents the usual downtown challenges or perceived challenges. Parking nearby is quite easy, or for guests it is marvellous. Quite anonymous for visitors too, with a big lobby. If you prefer downtowns, it's a great location, with a far better selection of real food and entertainment options in the area. There is a pic of the view from The Hilton on a SP's ad on O-E. I'd rather visit you there than out Wellington Rd., but that's only my opinion and situation. I'm a downtown type of guy, not a mall person. You won't likely get visitors from away dropping by, which you could have if you're at the south end of London @ 401.

there is six new hotels at the 401 and Wellington - two Hilton Brands including a Hampton Inn and a Homewood Suites . Either would make excellent choices. Downtown is a thirty minute ride plus paid parking when you factor it all in...
