Just thought I'd put this out there for those non-single people who partake in this hobby (whatever your reasons are don't matter to me) but what are some things you do to keep your hobby life private?
Excellent point teach. I too, am unattached, and therefore do not need to keep my hobby a secret from an SO, but now, with C36, it is wise to keep it secret for other reasons! (In my case I keep it secret from my professional life as well as from my kids.) So, that in mind, may I be so bold as to add:I don't have an SO so nothing to keep secret. But I do use a pre-paid burner phone for hobbying. With all the calls and texting, you have to assume all the agencies and indies have your number on record somewhere. If they ever get busted or for whatever unknown reason these phone numbers are released, I don't care.
Hey Teach, from where did you get your pre-paid burner phone?I don't have an SO so nothing to keep secret. But I do use a pre-paid burner phone for hobbying. Holy crap. I would forget to drag or close something. I'll stick to my 2005 era. No disrespect Gentle2her, but I'm forgetfull. No need to buy a prepaid burner phone. That's so 2005'ish! LOL
Use an application on your phone for texting and calling. Some people use "textme", others use "fongo". The first is more widespread but more buggy. The later is not very well known, but it's a very reliable VoIP app in which DELL was involved at some point, and it allows texting as well.
In order to keep track of your hobby related phone numbers, you can use "SplashID", "1Password", "DashLane" or what ever password keeping application you don't already use in real life, and keep things hidden.
For email communication, on iOS these is this little app called "calc". Not sure it exists on Android, but who knows, maybe! It looks and feel like a dummy calculator, but when you type the right number and hit the = sign, it reveals an interface where you can keep all your email communications, read and reply to emails, etc. VERY useful!
Last but not least, NEVER leave these apps open on your iPhone while at home! Make sure to double-click the home button, and drag the app UP to make it disapear from the recently open apps. You may also want to disable notifications for those apps, just in case! Nothing worse than a "I miss you" coming right up on your locked iPhone screen!
Holy shit man!!!! What are you a CSIS officer or something?? LOL I am going to use those apps from now on.No need to buy a prepaid burner phone. That's so 2005'ish! LOL

Nahhh! Just a married geek who doesn't want his wife to nail him down with evidence! LOLHoly shit man!!!! What are you a CSIS officer or something?? LOL I am going to use those apps from now on.

You have a parole officer. That's what you have, sir.Nahhh! Just a married geek who doesn't want his wife to nail him down with evidence! LOL
My wife has access to my iPhone, even her own fingerprint can unlock it! She can also track me with the "Locate my friend" Apple app too, so I have to make sure to make my position "private" whenever I'm not where I told her I would be! Scary huh? LOL!
Sounds more like East Germany... do you have the same access to her info?Loooool.

Yup. I do. And I had nothing to hide when we set that up a while ago. I know she's faithful, and I was too for a number of years, but recently came back here.Sounds more like East Germany... do you have the same access to her info?
For the internet history I personally use the Maxton browser on my cell phone. It has the option to permanently browse in privacy mode. All my regular internet browsing activities are on Chrome or Safari, and for private stuff I use Maxton. Easier to not forget erasing stuff, since you don't have toDelete call logs, text messages and Internet search history plus cookies after each visit.
