Just thought I'd put this out there for those non-single people who partake in this hobby (whatever your reasons are don't matter to me) but what are some things you do to keep your hobby life private?

Don't tell anyone who isn't already in the hobby. Don't take stupid chances. Avoid encounters where the Spidey sense in any way goes off. Be willing not to partake.

And I take care of my shit at home. Make sure that the house is a happy one. Also my SO has access to my computers etc. Nothing untoward other than porn and she doesn't care about that.

In other words I don't have any suspicious behavior in my life. And a couple of fellow hobby friends I can rely on for coverage.

I don't have an SO so nothing to keep secret. But I do use a pre-paid burner phone for hobbying. With all the calls and texting, you have to assume all the agencies and indies have your number on record somewhere. If they ever get busted or for whatever unknown reason these phone numbers are released, I don't care.

Excellent point teach. I too, am unattached, and therefore do not need to keep my hobby a secret from an SO, but now, with C36, it is wise to keep it secret for other reasons! (In my case I keep it secret from my professional life as well as from my kids.) So, that in mind, may I be so bold as to add:

  • Keep your hobby persona and your real life persona, and any other on line persona`s completely separate. (e.g. I have a separate persona for selling stuff on line, and another still for on line dating, others may have on-line gaming reasons etc.)
  • ALWAYS make separate and anonymous e-mail accounts for each of your on line persona`s.
  • NEVER give out any info- that can be used to trace back to any other of your on-line persona`s (including social media) that may eventually lead to your real life.
  • Never cross over your personas and use different passwords for each.
  • Never give out real names, real phone numbers, addresses, work place information, no matter how bad you wanna see that SP. Find a different way to verify yourself or see a different girl who isn't asking you to compromise your anonymity.

Hey Teach, from where did you get your pre-paid burner phone?

No need to buy a prepaid burner phone. That's so 2005'ish! LOL

Use an application on your phone for texting and calling. Some people use "textme", others use "fongo". The first is more widespread but more buggy. The later is not very well known, but it's a very reliable VoIP app in which DELL was involved at some point, and it allows texting as well.

In order to keep track of your hobby related phone numbers, you can use "SplashID", "1Password", "DashLane" or what ever password keeping application you don't already use in real life, and keep things hidden.

For email communication, on iOS these is this little app called "calc". Not sure it exists on Android, but who knows, maybe! It looks and feel like a dummy calculator, but when you type the right number and hit the = sign, it reveals an interface where you can keep all your email communications, read and reply to emails, etc. VERY useful!

Last but not least, NEVER leave these apps open on your iPhone while at home! Make sure to double-click the home button, and drag the app UP to make it disapear from the recently open apps. You may also want to disable notifications for those apps, just in case! Nothing worse than a "I miss you" coming right up on your locked iPhone screen!

You have to account for TIME MONEY TRAVEL CALLS PHYSICAL EVIDENCE

TIME - create it by doing other stuff AHEAD of time. then use the excuse that you are going there when you want to hobby, and Voila! you come back with a bag of 'just-purchased' stuff. Throw out the receipt OBVIOUSLY.

That's just one example. Oil change, gym, golfing, whatever - camouflage the time inside another legit activity.

Money -if your finances are joint, pay cash for things a bit more often - again - say an oil change. Or tires. Then say you went for it when really you didn't. Say something that you paid cash for cost $200 more than it actually did. Maybe a car repair.

Travel - have a justification fo rthe mileage if necessary.

Evidence - ah, there's too much here to cover. Just never take shortcuts, ALWAYS put things away properly, like extra phone etc.

Nahhh! Just a married geek who doesn't want his wife to nail him down with evidence! LOL

My wife has access to my iPhone, even her own fingerprint can unlock it! She can also track me with the "Locate my friend" Apple app too, so I have to make sure to make my position "private" whenever I'm not where I told her I would be! Scary huh? LOL!

Sounds more like East Germany... do you have the same access to her info?
Yup. I do. And I had nothing to hide when we set that up a while ago. I know she's faithful, and I was too for a number of years, but recently came back here.

Damn! I should've stayed away from the board and all the opportunities! Oh well. ;)

For the internet history I personally use the Maxton browser on my cell phone. It has the option to permanently browse in privacy mode. All my regular internet browsing activities are on Chrome or Safari, and for private stuff I use Maxton. Easier to not forget erasing stuff, since you don't have to

GTA & Thereabouts...
My advice?
1. Be the one to look after the finances. If you have a joint account, just slide money out here and there into cash. I spend a lot, so it is near impossible to track (at times, even for myself!),
2. Keep a 'burner'... I use the Burner App, and
3. Choose your opportunities and be willing to hold off and not go. Jerk off five times a day - whatever it takes.

On my end, I'm more worried about the hobby interfering with my job more so than my relationship. If my job may be affected (typically based on being away/unavailable time-wise), I do not go and hobby...

Quite frankly, my home life is better due to hobbying.

For the members here who have wives or SO's, can I ask, is all this paranoid and calculated effort really worth it?

Confirms for me how much better it is to remain single.
