The revamped Rock are ready for the Swarm tonight

The Revamped Rock look to go to 2-0 tonight when they take on the Swarm

Heres the full article in the sun

Toronto Rock fans get their first look at the team's revamped roster tonight at the Air Canada Centre.

The game against the Minnesota Swarm will be the 11th and final home opener for Rock captain Jim Veltman during his remarkable run with the franchise.

Veltman will retire at season's end.

The Rock opened its season last Saturday with an 11-9 victory over the Chicago Shamrox and head coach Glenn Clark was pleased with his team's performance.

"We are very happy," Clark said. "It has been a while since we actually started the season with a win."

That's certainly true. The Rock lost its first three games last season and ended up just 6-10, while in 2006, the team started 0-4, before rallying to finish 8-8.

The Rock defeated Minnesota 17-12 in an exhibition tilt last month on the strength of six goals by Ryan Benesch and split a pair with the 9-7 Swarm last season.

Clark expects the Swarm to be tough to beat both tonight and in St. Paul tomorrow.

"They present challenges to you all over the floor," Clark said.

"Their defence is strong and they run the ball well.

"They're a team that we have to prove ourselves against because they were better than us last year."

The Swarm was below average offensively a season ago and took steps to address that deficiency.

To that end, tonight's game marks the National Lacrosse League debut of rookie of the year favourite Craig Point of Ohsweken. Point is an explosive talent who finished third in scoring at the 2007 World Indoor lacrosse championship last May.

Tonight's game will be the first of five this season broadcast on Sportsnet Ontario

Went to the home opener.....twice the Rock had 3 goal leads....end up losing 17-16. THEN, they go to Minny for the 2nd half of the home-and-home and get the SHIT kicked out of them....

Things aint looking good in Rock-land......

Dude, you dont sit in 107 normally, do you?

Nope I'm in section 310 row one, and yes the rock got spanked on saturday damn :( but friday was a winnable game for sure, but things changed dramatically when Cam Woods was tossed for his second fight and instagating.

In basketball terms their best Defencive player who was traded to the Rock Fouled out.. well the swarm targeted his to get him out of the game with they had success..

I'm sure they will turn it around

The Rock aren't owned by MLSE, and the Rock's troubles are like a bump in the road compared to the Leafs troubles thats like a trench in the road

I guess we missed the best part though....Clarkie attacking the guy that ducked and ran to the penalty box as soon as he started taking punches....he got charged with simple assault by the Toronto cops for that, and Bullen ran the team on Saturday, which at the very least contributed to the fact they got humiliated......he is'nt ready for head coaching.....

Who steps in now? apparently Clark is either going to lose his job outright, or be suspended for at least half the season.....

Bill Watters sold his part off, but to son Brad, who in turn sold it to a holding company owned by....you guessed it, William and Brad Watters......so they dont own any of the Rock at all, they own a companby that owns the Rock....

Complicated, but very typical liability protection....

Duck and run.....

I have never seen anything like that fight.....they get mixing it up pretty good, then Woods starts landing punches with regularity, then this pussy simply backs out from the clinch, and RUNS to the penalty box, smiling!!

Why anyone would think that being a coward and a pussy is funny I'll never know, but I hope Clarkie landed one.........

NLL suspends Rock Coach Glenn Clark INDEFINITELY :O

The National Lacrosse League has suspended Toronto Rock head coach Glenn Clark indefinitely, the league announced on Thursday. Clark was suspended for his role in an incident that took place following a Rock home game vs. the Minnesota Swarm on January 11 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

The Office of the Commissioner conducted an investigation of the incident, which included a hearing with Clark and Commissioner Jim Jennings. Upon review of the matter, the Commissioner found that Clark engaged in an altercation with Minnesota player Sean Pollock at Air Canada Centre following the game, which ended in a 17-16 overtime victory for Minnesota.

Clark is presently in his second season as head coach of the Rock. Prior to coaching, he played nine seasons in the league, from 1998-2006.
