I did not know that the Special Olympics was around for so long, it was started by Eunice Shriver in the late 60's to get the handicapped involved in athletics. Italy takes them very seriously, in spite of its political and economic problems, it leads the world in caring for its most vulnerable (pre-school education, programs for the handicapped). So much so that one of the nations greatest soccer players is involved. He was soccer equivalent of Bobby Hull. Hull was known as The Golden Jet, Luigi Riva was known as Rolling Thunder. His shot was so hard that he once broke a goaltender's arm with it.
His message is "soccer is for everyone".
