No gifts.

No cards.

No decorations.

Just bought Christmas dinner and it's Banquet frozen sliced turkey and Kraft macaroni & cheese. And that's only because the restaurants will all be closed.

5 years ago I went to all of the people that usually bought me a present and told them to knock it off! Then I promised them that I would do the same.

1st year my sister and in-laws bought something. Since then I have had no problem.

It is not that I do not enjoy CHRISTMAS, or cannot afford it, I just hate and refuse to become part of the hustle and bustle about it. I do my own Santa crap throught the year.

Great. Especially as you say that you do your own Santa crap through out the year.

I also made an announcement a few years ago to friends & family that I was stopping my participation in the Christmas frenzy. Now I buy select gifts through out the year. Usually when I see something that a particular person would love. And they are rarely expensive items.

This is something that used to drive me wild and now I just accept but still notice. People talk of the 'Christmas Spirit' and I have been accused of lacking it. The way I see it is that the Spirit of giving & kindness can not be turned on and off, only to be remembered on a certain calendar date. This turns it into a convenience, something to pay lip service to, before getting back to the serious business of life and being nasty.

Funnily enough, The Christmas Carol is one of my favorite movies of all time. Scrooge is a man who "wakes-up" to himself at the end of the movie and truly starts to celebrate Christmas. I am sure that there are many like him in this world, but the current Christmas hype does not encourage true Christmas spirit.
So Bah Humbug & Gor' bless us, everyone

Between a rock and a hard place
Every time you watch A Christmas Carol, every time you spend an elaborate amount of money for no other reason than to present it on december 25, every time you attend an office party and photocopy your ass, every time you say Merry Christmas instead of hello or goodbye as you usually would the rest of the year, baby Jesus cries.
