Is this place good? I'm thinking of going down there for New Years from Toronto. Single women?

The Roxx is a young bar - lots of just legal, or close enough, kids getting drunk... Pretty decent place to pickup, if you're in the right age bracket... If you're 30 or over, you're gonna be way out of place in the joint, though. At least I feel WAY self concious about it... Something about being 10 years older then most everyone else there.

Random Ranch - the country bar a few blocks over (past where the fire was at the other week) - is the most happening place in Barrie these days... Decent age mix (from 19 on up)

Hotels? Nothing really right downtown (well the Simcoe, but I don't know anyone that would actually stay there) - but a few blocks over is the HoJo, couple blocks up, the Travelodge; then in the south end (5-10 minute cab ride away) there's a few choices - Holiday Inn, Comfort Inn, etc)

As for SP's - lots - check here, or in the local papers... Personally, I've used Nite Candy, and been very happy, but the girl I used to see has since gotten out of the business, and with her departure, I've gotten out of the hobby...

Lazman is right. Look at yourself in the mirror with the lens of a teenager and ask yourself if you're going to score. The Roxx used to be a cougar bar (many years ago) but the kids have taken over the area. I'm not sure where the cougars go now.

Incidentally, I think the Simcoe is $30 for 1/2 hour. Not a place to stay overnight, but most escorts will do outcalls there. If you're so inclined, just search this forum.

If I bring my "A" game - I can do OK at Random... Which is to say 50/50. I don't goto the Roxx, because I don't like the music, and I don't like drunk 19yo's - sober, it's hard to talk to one - hammered, it's worse - they're either idiots, or looking to fight - I've no use for either.

The 'sure' pickup place is probably 55 Special - but that's if you put on the extra-heavy-duty beer goggles... And if you like 'em skinny and young; it's not your place... But can be alot of fun, too - tends to be an older crowd - decent music, good looking staff. The patron's could be described as having great personalities? LOL

Agreed. 55 Special is the latest/greatest cougar bar in Barrie. It used to be Ruannes on Dunlop, but I'd try 55. Haven't been to Random Ranch, but have heard good things.

The Star is due to damage to the building from the fire at the Wellington (fire/smoke breached into the adjacent space, and I believe the Star as well)

As for Random - I wasn't aware they were closed, although I did hear something about financial issues through the grapevine the other day... EDIT: A quick check to their website has an annoucement about new Ownership, and being closed during the change over.

The location Random is at has always been a hot-spot for bylaw and LLBO enforcement, strictly because of the size of the space... When it was Traffic, then "Random" (before it became county full time), and if it's true, now RR...

Getting caught with underage patrons usually results in a fine, or a 10 day closure. Repeated offences may result in the license being pulled...

As for the Star, I'm not sure how extensive the damage was - I was on an truck a few blocks away, not right downtown...

Rumor mill grist: There are numerous owners of the Ranch, most of them unhappy with one partner. They ousted that particular partner. He was the one that had the liquor license and took it with him when he left. No license means closed doors until another partner can get the government papers in order.

Nothing confirmed, just passing along the rumors.....
