Almost entirely silver, they are only about 20 percent gold as I recall reading.
silver. 92.5% nickel 5% ( to harden the silver ) and the rest is a gold alloy plated on the surface.

That's not a bad guess. I suppose a horseman can ride a horse until he is well into his 60's. In a lot of Olympic sports, mid-20's is old (e.g. swimmers, gymnasts, etc.)

According to wiki I was right. 10th Olympic games.

(okay I doubted myself so I guess I wasn't 100% right but good enough - I was assuming that someone from the early days would be first)
