Upgrades seem minor to me, unless you are some film pro...but then Go Pro wouldn't be high on your radar. I prefer my DRIFT Ghost-S over the Go Pro. Battery life is far superior and it doesn't look like a giant toaster on your head.

The main differences.

DRIFT Ghost-S

1080p video at 60fps

12 Megapixel photos in bursts of up to 10fps

GoPro Hero 4 Black

4K video at 30fps, and 1080p video at 120fps

12 Megapixel photos in bursts of up to 30fps

The DRIFT definitely has better battery life but that's not a game changer. I'll be getting the GoPro.

Kicking myself for not buying GoPro stock!

Also their build quality is far superior to anything out right now. They get dropped out of airplanes, fall from racing cars, plane crashes and still survive. I've taken it cliff diving, snow boarding, extreme mountain biking, and never had a problem even in my worst snowboard wipe outs. I like the dynamic range, image quality, the option to shoot flat in pro tune for editing. For longer battery life you get an additional battery attachment with bigger housing that still provides waterproofing. It is also good in low light. Also the transition from under water to above water is seameless and you don't even ntice the camera struggle to adjust to different lighting conditions. What more do you need. The actual camera is tiny, it is the housing that makes it big.

I guess the question is which to buy, the Hero 4 Silver or Black. Basically, the Silver is a little more user friendly but lacks ultimate performance whereas the Black is the most capable but lacks the touchscreen. I want to be able to shoot some slo-mo stuff so the Black would be better but I like the idea of the touchscreen.

Here's the difference between between them.

Black

What kind of computer do you need to play 4K vid at 30 fps or 1080p at 120 fps?
Not sure about the 4K but I'm sure the 1080p at 120 fps would look amazing on my TV.

It is not worth it. They sell a seperate LCD touch screen already that works for Hero 3 and 3+ so I see no reason why it will not work for hero 4 black. http://www.thesource.ca/estore/prod...D-4u-AGIMoB4tgI9WuvzqAom5rCLKKJ4jMaAhy98P8HAQ

Only problem with this is it will make your gopro a bit more bulky but they also make the bigger waterproof housing to handle the attachements like LCD or extra battery.

Regardless of the touch LCD you will not need it since the camera covers approx 170 deg FOV. You quickly learn how to palce it and is forgiving a lot becuase it captures so much in a frame. If you are doing the tripod or timelapse just use your app via wifi to set up frame.

I think that 120 fps at 1080p is huge benifit and outweighs the benifits of a built in lcd touch. Plus the 4k is awesome as you can pan, edit video into 1080p and do so much to the 4k frame without loosing quality past the 1080p plus it future proofs your clips.

Good points, I agree. There's also a smartphone app (and yes, even for BlackBerry) which you can use to preview the camera angle if you're using it in a fixed position. Hero4 Black for me!
