The Movie Experience.

I just got back from Iron Man 3.It was my first "movie theatre" experience in about 3 years. It would be a VERY hard sell for me to go again.I have a home theatre system and I definitely noticed the discomforts, inconvieniences, negative social aspects and other assorted crap that went with it.

At the end of the day your sitting in a dark room watching a movie .There were definitely more cons then pros while doing that with strangers.Anyone else have a home theatre and felt a few of the same feelings? If so what did you notice the most?

It's just the whole aspect of being a part of society. We are isolated more than ever despite of being virtually connected all the time. Getting outside of our comfort zone is a part of being alive.

Good point. It's getting way too easy to become insular in our society.

I actually find the experience of seeing a movie on the big screen in a packed theatre kind of fun. It's a vibe thing, hard to explain. Also for a movie like Iron Man with a lot of special effects and such, huge sound with a goliath screen does make a big difference for me personally.

depends on the movie, imo

for movies that you must see in the theatre (lots of fx) it'd be better to see on the big screen

I recommend morning showings, or wait until the movie has been in theatres several weeks, when the crowds have died down

for me, there are very few movies like this, so for the rest, yeah, rent at home

The only reason for me to watch movies at the theater is so I can watch a new movie that I have been waiting to see right away in the best and fullest quality. Otherwise I'd just wait a couple of months later to watch a movie I wasn't dying to see but kind of want to see.

with the size and relative cheapness of large t.v's and quality sound systems the next step for the movie release would be on a netflix style platform. no more going to the movie theater on the day it is released when you can get it at home for like 12$ or whatever the price may be. those big movie companies will start making some of that lost revenue back if they did that. i would rather watch a movie on the day it is released at my home over a movie theater any day of the week.

the seats suck and if you got to piss you miss part of the movie, people talking, cell phones, noise, uncomfortable and they usually stink and the temperature is off.
