What is the average life expectancy for a wireless mouse? Mine isn't so great lately. Is it a matter of new battery or should I buy a new one? TIA.

I have been using my mouse for around 4 years now and the only thing I did to it is to change the batteries. What kind of problems are you having?

Thank you but that still doesn't address the problem I have with my mouse.
Probably needs a new battery.
Even with an optical mouse make sure it's clean underneath. A little spec of dirt can fowl it up.

When I have this problem, I will turn the mouse on/off, check to see if the optic is dirty, clean the mouse pad and if the problem is still there, change the batteries.

Does the mouse connect with blue tooh or via a wireless setup - ie cable plugged into your desktop for both keyboard and mouse? ....if you use bluetooth, then you may need to go into the bluetooth program and re-connect the mouse...it may not be sensing it any longer. This may also prompt for a driver update for bluetooth.

I have found this a couple of times now with a Logitech mouse. Changing the batteries, cleaning the mouse and using the connect button on the mouse did not resolve the issue....the bluetooth program and update did

It came with a little chip that i insert into the side of my lap top. I bought this one about 2 years ago and it wasn't the most expensive but it wasn't the cheapest either. I'm fairly computer illiterate. There's a cable for the keyboard but nothing for the mouse.

New wireless mice are cheap and pretty good. Been using a M$ 3500 wireless mouse for 1½ yrs. It's low drain and runs fine on 1 AA battery. Use it on my laptops. It acts as a great TV 'remote' when used on the laptop plugged into the big screen HDTV and can control >90% of the TV/laptop functions from over 20 ft away if needed.....;)
To tell you the truth that mouse is more responsive than the TV or Cable remote that is normally used for the TV.

In the old days, you'd get lint in the mouse ball or the wheels which interface with the mouse ball which would cause it to act erratically. With modern mice, they get dirty sensors. Try cleaning the sensor with a q-tip and water, or alcohol.

If you drop, bang or throw the dam thing it shortens the life span even faster.

Have you noticed that the newer wireless mice are running longer on Duracell batteries then Eveready batteries?
