Prorate that times 3 to 21 games around what most teams have played and he would be up near the top of the league in goals. And this without the benefit of a training camp and being a month behind everyone else game wise. What the hell do you want the guy to do.

Bottom line, Burke is just another douche that gave up way too much for Kessel. Don't get me wrong he will still have a good year but when you put him with 2nd, 3rd and 4th line players like Stajan, Poky, Grabovski, etc, you can't expect much.

I'd like him to play like two first round picks. He isn't turning the tide right now, so why not want the picks back?

Tonight's "penalty" to White is another missed call like the Ribeiro dive at Dallas.

Schenn is having a bad year, and they can't let him deteriorate like this all season. Maybe he'll go to the minors to develop his game. Khadri is in the OHL to continue developing.

Also, why is Rick Nash signing a long term deal with COLUMBUS??? He should be signing with Toronto as a FA.

Oh Gawd not this bullshit argument again. Quick question were we to do that and attendance drop what do you think will happen to improve the team. White is a steal at 850,000. Maybe one of the best value for salary players in the league at this time. He could crack the lineup of most teams right now.
Pony is another guy that I always liked. Very reliable contributor who is a solid third line or second line player.
These two should be resigned IMHO.

Mea Culpa, you're right. I had read that somewhere, however I still stand by my overall argument that this is a mess that will take some time to clean up.

In a way Bob you are correct. That 15 or so million will go fast, so it is a lot, but not a whole lot.

What I would do ...

resign Gustavsson trying to keep it under $3mil per season, Mitchell and White to slight increases.

Kulemin I would use in a trade.


I would just let Stempniak, Ponikarovsky, Wallin and Toskala go.

Stajan, if I could get him to take a cut or resign at the same salary. A raise only if he fit and under $2mil.
Primeau and Mayers only if they fit comfortably under the cap and definitely one year contracts.

Exelby is possible, but not near $1.7mil. Leafs have enough tough defencemen.

I like Primeau, Mayers and Exelby, but they cannot handcuff the organization as far as the cap goes.
