Just watching youtube videos of people who have passed, who did something magnificent with their lives, who didn't let it drift by.

Do animals know they will die?

We know we will, but I believe that one day life will be some form of immortal. Then, they will look back on us with wonder, and they will think, "They knew they would die, but still, they danced, they sang, they loved, they cried, in spite of what they knew would come."

We are blessed with the knowledge of mortality. You
don't want to die without any preparation beforehand.

Some people think we are just energy transforming form and we have been here forever and are all part of the one and are the one and each other and will have lived every single possibility over and over again until we realize what we are only to intimately divide and do it again 🤷‍♂️

IDK about you but that kind of sounds lonely.

With apologies for any perceived negativity...

Stephen Hawking on afterlife and Heaven:

"I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail. There is no Heaven or afterlife for broken down computers. That is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark."

Afterlife is the same state you were in before
you were born into this world. Since you won't
ever come back to life it is going to be your
eternal bliss.

Non omnis moriar. Bullshit. You live until you die. The memory of you will linger, maybe, until your grandchildren expire. But, what is it to you; who has turned to dust? So, enjoy today because it's the only day that counts and the only days that matter are those we don't know, yet. Live and enjoy and let the assholes worry.

Exactly nothing good comes from worrying and contemplating . All that existential awareness crisis crap can only bring one down , why are we here ? and is there an afterlife , a purpose and so on .. I think the deeper one goes the worst it gets ... it’s not like we are ever gonna figure these things out , because quite frankly we are not meant to so the sooner we realize this and let go and accept it the better off we are gonna be ...

we are mortal by nature and we come into this world cursed knowing that we going to die ? but knowing that our days are numbered naturally makes us appreciate life , it’s only precious because it ends
So no need to focus our energy on something we have no control over , we should be focused on making all our days count

It has been observed that Elephants morn their dead. They also remember them, and will morn them again when they encounter something that reminds them of the dead. Such as recordings of the dead Elephant's call.

Well, a few observations.

To me, death is what drives the desperate requirement for sex and reproduction. Without death, or at least INEVITABLE death, there would be no great urgency for reproduction.

The absolutely essential fact of all life is to live and reproduce, and essentially, the two are one and the same. Reproduction IS life, in terms of the species, at least. Now, nowadays, one might say that one can reproduce via 'software' - ideas, rather than merely hardware - reproduction. So one could die childless yet still live on through the ideas that one has promulgated. But even that is still entirely dependent on others reproducing the hardware.

Only reproduction can reproduce a brand new version of oneself without defects. An obese man with heart disease and who is a smoker can sire a child pure and clean, with a fresh start. No defects. it doesn't carry over (usually at least).

Is death actually life's killer app?

Without death risk-taking would be severely reduced. Death is the ultimate deadline.
