Nina Hartley ,“Last year I did a scene a week, this year I do a scene a month,” she says. As a sex celebrity, she has not dropped her fees, charging about $1,200 for a “straight boy-girl” scene. But production has collapsed, and for younger performers so have prices.
Pornography had been immune to previous recessions, so the current downturn has come as a shock.
I have never been very much into her, but she body was TIGHT back then ... and even now ( think she's on Diary of a milf )

Good link.

As a side topic so has the escort business here in Toronto. Prices not droping much but all types of innovations and length of time changes.

Prices are next. We have an over supply of talent right now combined with less demand.

I don't think so much this is a recession,as the free clips on line.At one time I only knew of those sites with 30-60 seconds clips of the action,NOW I could give you listings for probably 40-60 full clip sites of flash clip style porn. That's not including all the download software, torrent sites etc that is out there.

It's also easy to find too. These are not obsure sites(A larger 1 actually features advertising with a few prominent names).Until the porn industry starts taking the same route as the feature film and Music industry(legal action),this"recession" will continue.

The problem with that is the same problem they have always had when it comes to the law.Nobody wants to give anything to pornographers, subsequently alot of folks out there would love to see these folks go out of business.

The only problem is someone has to generate money. If there's no money in journalism, no-one is going to go into it and you're going to be left with every idiot and his brother with his or her own "blog"

God, I hate schlock journalism. Do some fucking actual research rather than just re-printing what countless others have reported.

First off, Nina Hartley is NOT one of the most sought after pornstars. So right off the bat the credibility of the article is questionable. She USED to be sought after but now at 50+ she's putting out MILF clips and her sexy golden tan has been replaced with pasty whiteness and stockings to cover the cellulite.

The $6 billion figure is also highly suspect, as is the source it comes from. It's a semi-educated guess by someone from within the industry but there's no way of knowing whether that figure is inflated or not because one of the most closely guarded secrets is who sells how much and at what profit.

This is a typical porno "news" story to tantalize readers.

One thing for certain is porn is not what it used to be. Viedo and web clips have changed things drastically. We no longer are tantalized by beauty. We gorge ourselves on grossness and extreme acts. Web stars are born and worn out in months instead of years or decades.

CNBC has already done a documentary on the same issue.

Simply put, porn industry is in deep trouble not because of relentless attacks by the GOPs of the world. The industry got hammered by this great recession aka credit crunch since people no longer afford to leverage, hence have discretion money to spend on strip clubs, 4 figures per hour outcalls all the time.

Moreover, deflation in terms of free/priated/amateur video clips available on-line 24/7 in your own home, on your cell and on video game console, together with more recent female grads/grad students/unemployed ladies desperate to pay down mortgages and student loans joining the industries mean pricing and earning powers are not as good as before.

BTW, I would not be surprised to see Playboy Enterprise is in chapter 11 after Hugh Hefner is gone. The Bunny Brand still worths something but not sure for how long. On the other hand, Rick Caberet manages to hold on well....

Playboy missed the opportunity to cash in the business BIG time in 2007 when the credit was still cheap and there're greedy, smart (idiotic in retrospect) private equity "wise guys" who would like to make a deal by LBO.

Maybe that's part of the reasons why Christie Hefner, former CEO and Hef's only child resigned. Hef simply lose it and could not let go to now worth-less brand.

I do not see the Europeans to buy up Playboy in this sorry state. Maybe Private Media Group Inc headquartered in Barcelona, Spain is interested but their financial shape is no better.

Or one of the Russian billionaires may be interested to take over and run as a "hobby", using hot EEs and fire the local playmates to cut cost.

Still, I may place my bet to have some out of nowhere, noveau riche/parvenu from mainland China who pay top dollar for Playboy in order to flaunt their economic standing rather than practice sound business sense.

BTW, Playboy articles and interviews are very good, albeit too liberal at times. The Playmates on the other hand all air-brushed

I keep hearing the term air-brushed when people talk about playmates... wtf do they mean? there isn't much a definition or use for it in graphic design... and these girls really do look as good as they do, so why??
