That looks friggin sweet... but it's still a prototype... looks a little like the new Chragers/Magnums though... need to slope and angle the front end a little more, make it more triangular.

Damn... I wish I could've gone to the Detroit Auto Show.

I guess GM has seen Mustang sales go up by 30% and the new Charger and they feel that they have to get back into the pony car game.

Remains to be seen if it happens or not.
GM stock jumped from the excitement today, my guess, Yea.

or Buick Wildcat !

Speaking of Buick, I recently rented an Allure. If this is supposed to be the answer to the Camrys and Accords they might as well pack it in. Poor interior finish, the car sways like a boat at higher speeds, steering is as precise as the bus schedule in Mexico City.

Now IMHO the new concepts in pony cars are nice, but the challenger is TOO much like the original. Just a couple of dodads and they think they've nailed it. I bet they use the original dies for the body parts.

Chip's/Unique Performance is just a rebuilt original. I think Unique is going to try and sell them as "kit" cars kind of like the super snake/baby snakes (which are sweet sweet pieces of detroit muscle). I especially like the Go Baby Go button on the shifter.

The BEST, and I do mean IMHO the VERY best re-release is the cobra concept car. That has got to be the sweetest looking ragtop on wheels with the new coupe not far behind. I saw the program on the cobra on the Discovery (?) channel and that car just doesn't look hot, it rocks! I just wish they'd go into production......

I do hope the camaro goes into production, GM needs to get off their ass and start producing a product that will save it's ass from the creditors. They are on the ropes and except for the solstice, they really haven't produced anything really exciting for eons....

BTW, the celebrity car models at the auto show included Angie Harmon and Eva Longoria (from the slideshow on the Yahoo article). :D

The way GM works, when they come out with a concept car, it takes them 3 or 4 years before they even start building the car, if they decide to build it. By then I think GM will be long gone !!

Now GM is going to cut prices on most of their cars, if they were losing money already is this really going to help ?? People are still not going to buy their junk !! At least not me !!
This is called mass marketing and the more units they sell, even at a lower profit margin on each unit, the more money they will make.....

For one of the world's largest companies, I have to admit they are on the ropes......

IMHO I think these big auto makers are going to have to look elsewhere for their profits. At any given moment there is a vehicle for every man, woman and child in north america. Talk about market saturation!

They make their money right now in Asian growth. They have overtaken VW as the number 1 seller in China, that's a big deal. Also, GM continues to squeeze their suppliers so that they can afford these price cuts.

Am I the only one who thinks that this new Camaro looks like a Mustang from some angles and a Challenger from others but, unless you zoom in on the bow tie, it looks nothing like a GM product let alone a Camaro?

Look at a late 60's Camaro, its pretty much an interpretation of it.

I find them tacky & tasteless. The Challenger concept is by far the worst, but the Charger & Camaro aren't far behind. The so called "kick-up" rear is vulgar and over-retro, as is the recessed headlight & grille treatment.

If they had brought back the flowing, elongated fastback version of Camaro form the 70's with some updated touches, it would have been much better. I thought those notchbacks were ugly then and even uglier upon reflection.

I always prefered smooth & streamlined Monza/Sunbird/Skyhawk liftbacks of the 70's were much more forward looking and better candidates for modernization.

Imagine them with cleaned up front ends, contemporary body kits, less rear overhang and slightly shorter tail end...

It looks OK but I find that Domestic Car Manufacturers are doing this "retro" thing because they are simply out of ideas (which is sadly, very "domestic" of them)....its over done...way over done.

Get some creativity dammit

Dude, I often agree with you but on this point? Smooth? Streamlined? "ahem" ok......wait, you would also welcome back leisure suits and wide lapels right? LOL

IMHO the 70's was the absolute WORST era for North American vehicle styling. Ask any mustang lover and they will tell you they don't even consider the mustang II a mustang lol.

Well it certainly didn't remind me of a 68 or 69 Camaro. When I saw the grill (except for the bow tie) I thought Challenger and when I saw the rear quarter panels I thought Mustang. The roof looks more Dodge than GM. I haven't seen the rear end yet.
