Yikes!

Browning or Glock both are well known and used. Just remember to lock it up at the range.

Mind you if you are looking for performance always ask the Czech's they are better than the Belgians or French. I heard they they have this sweet 4.3mm that scares the NATO forces. Extra High velocity and 30 rounds in a clip!

Just remember. Guns don't kill people, people with guns kill people. Always lock up your weapons.

I thought semi-automatic weapons were limited to a 5 round clip in Canada.

It's a Military weapon. Does not belong in the hands of Civies. As a matter of fact, no pistol does. The safety of the people belongs in the hands of the Police. And yes I know they could do more. Still.

Way old school, but they where 45's, no? Too much recoil and not many rounds in the clip (i.e 7). That is why NATO was able to convenience the US to try 9mm. But in terms of stopping power, only Dirty Harry had more.

Unfortunately that gave the US the leverage to force NATO to go 5.56. Bad move. FNC1-A1 from Fabrique National was a far superior rifle. Now from reports from their own Military, they are starting to realize that distance to combat is not always 200m. I feel for those guys.

Edit: I take that back Wikipedia says they were rechambered for 9mm and .38 caliber, but at 50m effective range (.45 caliber) as opposed to 200m I stand by the smaller rounds.

Glocks are out-standing but the safety is on the trigger, which to me is self-defeating. CZ 75 is a Czech version of the Browning. Both are outstanding and highly reliable; CZ costs less. Sig Sauer's are highly regarded but I don't know about them myself. I'd buy a CZ; good rep as a reliable weapon, and more affordable than most others.

The CQB courses I go to in the US use either Sigs or Barettas as the 9mm secondary. Keep in mind that these are only secondary weapons and are of very limited use except at very short range. They don't have to look pretty just not jam and reload quickly.

It really depends on what you are going to use the weapon for. The less recoil the closer you can keep the double tap, the better for shock value and penetraton . Balance that against the higher energy transfer from the larger round, fire rate reliability, mag cap, reload , weight etc. The needs of target shooting differ greatly from use hunting bipeds.

Im going to use it for target practice but also at the same time, i want a cool, powerful gun. I always love beretta, since i never hold one, i want to know what everybody here who have experience with the gun.

At the range!!!
I fired the Glock 17 when it first hit Canada, it has been on my wish list ever since. Mind you the new more compact version (the one cops use) I can't remeber the name is quite nice too.

If you ever get a chance to try or buy a converted Uzi (semi auto/single shot only) I would highly recommend it. I've had the opputunity to fire countless different guns and calibres and I must say it was one of the coolest to play with. The recoil mech. makes it feel like you are shooting a pellet gun.

I think Glocks are considered one of the best. My guess is take a look at what various LE or army's choose as their handgun of choice. However, contracts with the companies may have influenced their decisions above and beyond performance.
