Here's a controversial one.

Summary - girl is born with a severe handicap. She's 9 now but has the mental capacity of 3 month old. She can't sit up on her own, can't feed herself, can't bathe herself ... basically is 100% dependent on caregivers which at the moment are mom & dad and the grandmothers.

Mom and Dad are worried about the girl's future. So they give her hormone treatment that will end up restricting (stunting) her future growth, and they have her uterus removed as well. They do all this because they love her and they feel the changes will make her quality of life better.

The parents seem to have done what they did out of love and respect.

The girl is obviously never going to develop, and the steps taken seem appropriate.

I agree with Strongbeau. I can't help but to think though, what would I do? I don't think I would have ever entertained that idea. Don't think it's my part to play God, just help to nurture growth.
