Now how disgusting was that game?

I only saw bits and pieces here and there... plus all the highlights and post game commentary. What a bunch of losers. Dirty play, childish behaviour, intent to injure, so on and so on.

I'm glad Deco is out of the next game. What a completely boneheaded move to pick up the second yellow. Completely undisciplined. Though I was cheering for Portugal, I would have been quite content to see them lose that game cuz they sure as hell deserved it.

And what the hell is Costinha doing? The guy already had a yellow and intentionally handles the ball?? WTF?? I would have been pissed if I was his teammate. Completely jeopordizes his teams chances with that gaffe....

What a disgusting game.

I cant believe I'm about to say this..... I hope England sends them packing.

Figo going also

Portugal could also loose Figo also as a result of his headbut. This will really tear the guts out of the team. As lousy as England has been to date, if they get their act together they could find themselves in the final four.

It was an ugly game, but your short review of it is more boneheaded than anything I saw on the field.

The second yellow against Deco was ridiculous. He didn't deserve a card on that occasion.

And why single out the Portuguese? I admit I'm not proud of some of the things I saw them do out there today, but the Dutch clearly started it with their vicious targeted tackle on Ronaldo. The boy may have seen his last game in this tournament because of it. And what about the Dutch not returning the ball after we kicked it out of play following Carvalho's injury?

You clearly know nothing about this sport, so you might want to confine yourself to opinions about the colours of the uniforms.

As for England, well we're very weakened by Deco's absence, Figo may still see a suspension before the week is out, and if Ronaldo is available he won't be 100%, but even with our B team we've still more than enough quality to keep that overrated bunch sweating.

O

Oil Please

You played? " And what about the Dutch not returning the ball after we kicked it out of play following Carvalho's injury" LMAO after we kicked it out? You don't fucking play!

Reading your post reminds me of the time I tried to understand a Chinese fellow suffering from the last stages of Parkinsons, who'd stubbed his toe, moments after he found his wife cheating on him with two Armenian midgets.

Only you're less clear.

Timewasters get yellow cards. Deco deserved his. Figo needs to get bounced from the next game. What a punk!

Wonder why the hell Deco playing for Portugal and not Brazil. Then again, he probably couldn't make Brazil's side.

And just because the Dutch didnt return the ball that gives Deco the right to put on yellow card style tackle?

Listen Portugal over all these years still play the game like a bunch of morons. No wonder this is the first time they have got out of the 1st round since 1966. The Dutch are turning into a bunch of Portu-gal ballers too. Van Basten better get some real hard back men from Suriname(Davids, Rijkard, Kluivert, Jimmy Floyd, Gullitt, Seedorf) back onto this Dutch side. Of course not those men but certainly those like them. Te Dutch lacked bite in the midfield. If they had Davids and Seedorf they would have easily dumped Portu-gal team.

Also, was he trying to spite Ruud VN by leaving him on the bench? Van Basten is a real ass. Hope he gets fired.

But Portugal didn't play the ball out of bounds when the goalie was injured. The guy was nearly in the clear and he wanted to keep going when the referee blew the wistle. I don't know why they were expecting to get it back that time.

Regardless, it didn't seem to matter what the situation was, Portugal was the better team man-for-man at every turn. Even with a man advantge, the Dutch had alot of meaningless possesion, but VanderSaar had to make more good saves than Ricardo. The game could easily have been 4-1.

Oh I don't know. Don't rule out Erickson finding a way to hand Portugal another playoff game. He managed it in Euro'04 with a much better English team against a Portugese squad that wasn't playing as well as this one coming out of the group phase.

I didn't keep up in the mean time and just assumed they fired Erickson's ass after thet. When I learned he was still manager, i didn't think they'd even get this far, I thought Ecuador would win.

Let's be clear. England have been playing down to their competition. The better the team the better the performance. They played there best against Sweden and lost it it the final few minutes with sloppy defence. If any of you are thinking that Portugal is just going to run all over them then, think again. Rooney is just getting his stride back. And why the hell is Lennon still on the bench.

I wish we fired Erickson 12 months ago!

Very well said Franky. Figo should be dumped from this World Cup as it was a total bone-headed move as I've seen in a long time. If the Dutch had players as Franky mentioned; this one would have been a joke. Kudos to Portugal for holding on though!!! Oh; did anyone see that boot to the neck in the penalty box by the Portuguese defender in the 1st half. Just another blundering mistake that would've changed the game for sure. This ref should not ref another game. Hey Franky; GO GHANA BABY!!!!!!
I love Ghana but I been a Brasilia supporter ever since I was 2 and my daddy put up a bunch of Edson Arantes do Nascimento posters in my room.

You lucky you have Ericsson (thats your spell Swedish version). He might get you further than the last English born manager did. rofl

BTW, Sweden outplayed England dude. They must have hit your upright 3 or 4 times with your goalie in no mands land.
lol

Let's get this straight, if Cole didnt intervene England would have been dead and buried. This England side is overrated. They are a deadball side. Gerrard and Lampard are the same man. They cannot be in a midfield together. A team like Argentina would give England 3 nil with consumate ease.

Didn't England beat Argentina recently? Both teams are over-rated but Roony could be the difference. :D

England should send Holland a big "Thank you" card and buy them a round of beer, they've made Englands task a heck of a lot easier.

Let's clarify a few things.

1. I dont allow the fact that I support a team to cloud my judgement (and I picked Portugal to make to the final 4 - and I am a HUGE fan of Luis Figo).

2. Deco is an idiot for even giving the ref the most remote idea that he should be carded. He already had a card... the smart thing to do was to just back off and keep his mouth shut.. and let his game do the talking. In a game like that, the last thing he should have been doing is stirring up shit by pretending like he didnt know what the call was, time wasting, so on and so on. With the amount of experience and skill this guy has, there was just no need for that.

3. Portugal had the lead. Regardless of what the Dutch were doing, the smart thing to do is to keep their cool and not retaliate the way that they did.

4. After what Figo did, any of his fans should be embarrassed. Again, you're allowing the fact that you're a supporter to cloud your judgement. I wasnt the one who headbutted... I'm not the bonehead. Figo is. Someone with as much game and experience as he has - has no excuse for what he did.

5. Costinha... now here's a real moron. The guy already had a card and was lucky not to get another one for the vicious slide tackle shortly thereafter. THEN HE INTENTIONALLY HANDLES THE BALL AND GETS A SECOND YELLOW! He was the first one sent off and put Portugal down a man when they already had the lead. What if Holland has scored while they had the man advantage? It would have been a very different game I assure you and we might be talking about Holland vs. England right now. Real stupid, stupid move by Costinha.

It's no secret how hotheaded Portugese footballers can be. I know from watching and from playing against many footballers from Portugal. If they had just played with skill and flare with which they are fully capable (and have doing throughout the tourney), then I wouldnt criticize them the way that I am. As a fan and supporter of Portugal, I was very disappointed that they did not fall back on their experience and show some poise with the one goal lead. They were lucky to escape with the win... and even luckier that Figo WILL play the next game.

As a supporter of Portugese football, it's not enough for them to win... they must win with class... something that did not happen against the Dutch. I will still wave the flag against England (and I think they will win that game too), but I will sure as hell criticize their game if they continue to play dirty and without class - regardless of what the opposition is doing.

Are you also a Maple Leafs fan? You talk like someone who is a big supporter of his side... but deep down, knows that they are a LONG way from being on the same level of the real contenders.

At that level, you dont just 'turn it on' when you play the tougher teams. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for the first and maybe second games of the round robin, but an honest and humble supporter of English football cant be overly excited with their standard of play up til now.

The goal by Beckham was awesome... but that's about all that was awesome from an overall team performance that truthfully wasnt better than average.

Then again, maybe my standards are just too high.

... which is why all the retaliation and losing of tempers just wasnt necessary.

Although the game was dirty yesterday between Portugal and Holland, at least it was more entertaining then the snoozefest being played today between the Swiss and Ukraine. I mean it has been a pretty clean game, which is good, but oh my god is it boring. Where is the offence? The whole game is being played in the middle of the field. Almost no shots on goal. Let's hope it goes to penalty kicks or something...

easily one what game 4-1??????????????? HUH????????????????

Listen, If RVN was playing Portugal would be on a flight right now. It was poor finishing that led to Holland's demise. They had opportunity.

also, Van Bastard is a moron. Who is he trying to spite by leaving generals like Davids and Seedorf off this team?? Davids would snuffed out this Portu-gal midfield even with their Brazilian general (Deco). Van Basten is the reason why Holland wont be in the semis this year. If they dont fire him I would be surprised. They better get Hiddink back asap
