Thailand is more like institutionalized petty scam central. For example:Ohyesuare said:Much appreciated wetnose, I understand it is most likely exaggerated but Thailand seems like scam central which I am willing to risk but just want to be educated as much as possible before going.
I will check out the website you mentioned and definitely try to hit up Jasmine Jazz once my flight is booked, have been tempted to see her even before I thought of going to Thailand.
Adorable? There's a scam going on at Suvarnabhumi Airport now where when you're at the checkout, the cashier will sneak something small like a pack of cigarettes into your bag. If you notice and make mention of this they'll either take it out or say that it's a free gift, but once you leave the store security will arrest you for shoplifting. Then it's your word against the cashier's and in Thailand the police will always believe their fellow Thais over a foreigner in any situation. The only way out of jail time in a Thai prison now is to pay them a hefty bribe.luckyjackson said:I've always found the scams in Thailand to be adorable. Not serious, and easy to avoid, if you want to.
Very true. If a tuk tuk driver says he wants to show you the sights for for 30b, and you believe him, then I'm sorry, you deserve to be scammed.Jasmine Jazz said:the easiest thing i would say to guys gonna go to thailand is if any thai people walk up to u and start talking to u its probably a scam because regular thai sellers arent that confident. so if a guy stop beside u on a motorbike or walks up to u with a brochure u can know 90% its a rip off for tourists. And they know how to know if u are someone able to scam! if u talk to them they know right away that u dont know its a ripoff!
