I wouldn't go that far.
But there is a whole aspect where the Musk stocks were getting value for the illusion of Musk as Tony Stark. And he still has a fan base that is into supporting him and his stock for cultural reasons.
That all gets pulled if Musk leaves.
The board did try to put some blockers in there, but notice how the milestones he needs to reach to get his trillion are all vastly lower than what he has been claiming in public for years.
