TERB Fantasy Football League

G

GlavaMan

With the NFL pre season under way, it's time to think about year 2 of the Terb fantasy football league. This year Sandbox is charging,as does nfl.com, $4.95 per month. This sucks but it seems to be the way things are going. Yahoo still has a free league so we can move over there. It is not as good as Sandbox or NFL.com but it will certainly serve the purpose. http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1

The biggest disappointment last year was that a non Terbite won it. This also sucks(more for EBS who was a close 2nd) We can have a 10,12 or 14 team league. Let me know if you are interested.

Glava,

I haven't looked at the new Sandbox (needless to say they've been spammin my inbox) but what they had last year really sucked with regards to scoring. Scoring on NFL.com is real time with audio alerts even...simulated crowd noise, etc. This year they do have a playoff format on Sandbox, something we had last year on NFL.com. At least the playoff will force you to pay attention early or you'll be done by week 13. I got trounced over on NFL.com. Simply had no stud running backs. Finished 5th in a 12 team league. Only 4 went to the playoffs.

I can go either way. I don't have a problem with a nominal 4.95 fee if the scoring updates are real time. That sure as shit beats last year where sometimes you had to wait until Tuesday morning to find out who won. I mean I was so damned impatient I would hand score the sandbox games from the stats off of NFL.com.

The sporting news has a fantasy site too. I believe ESPN has a fantasy site. I'll have a look and report back.

You make the call. I'll follow your lead.

Count me In

I too was in the Terb league among a couple others. We also ended up moving to yahoo last year because its still free and you can customize the scoring to suit your league. I usually prefer the leagues we draft our own players but that takes a lot of coordination and dont think thats practical here. That being said count me in on draft/no draft/fee/no fee or even an entry fee and winner takes 1/2 and 1/2 goes to charity.

Sporting news

Guys Check out the skinny on the Sporting news Fantasy Football.

http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/football/fullseason/basic/home.html

The basic game is free.

They do have a draft: you purchase players with a 35 million dollar budget.

You can choose 2wr, 2QBs, 2RBs and a team defense

Prices for players vary by week according to previous weeks performance. 15 free trades.

Nfl.com had something like this last year where every week you had to assemble a team for less than 200 bucks combined salary. Of course the object was to maximize fantasy points with your chosen lineup. You would then play against everybody else in your league which is determined by your home team, for instance mine was the 49ers.

Overall, I liked NFL.com better. I'll have another look at Sandbox and tell you what I think.

Haven't done a Fantasy team before, but I'm an NFL junkie. I'd be interested in details...

Top Jimmy come on down...man you will be hooked..LOL..

Look Fellas,

Here's the home page of the NFL.com

http://football.nfl.com/splash/football/nfl/single

These guys are asking 34.95 a season. A little more expensive but what I did like about these guys last year is that each week they had a half hour program with commentary about fantasy picks. It was a streaming video. Went over injuries and strategy. Really good stuff from their experts on Fantasy football, not just NFL jocks. Live scoring was free last year. Playoff format. Double elimination last two games of the season between 2 teams.

Sandbox Plus is asking 24.95 a season. This gives you sporting news and draft information, live scoring, playoff format, auto or slow/fast realtime draft.

Yahoo has a free game, but its not worth the hassle to me. http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/

However for 24.95 you do get a game that seems to have it all including draft kit and live scoring. Sporting news subscription included btw.

MY recommendation: Lets go back to Sandbox for 24.95. The flex system plus they've done some things to beef up defensive player scoring this year that sound awesome.

My second choice would be NFL.com. My third choice is Yahoo.

The Sportingnews game is a different format and not quite as interesting to me, although 14 player draft on 50 million could get complicated. I just like the head to head format and I don't think that's availible in Sporting news.

Let me know...let's make a decision and then let's roll.

I'm gonna watch my 9ers spank the Chokeland traitors tonight in the Bay Bowl. Preseason but it will be full speed just like the playoffs. Classic across the bay rivalry for bragging rights.

Sandbox sounds good to me also! Is everyone up for paying $24.95 for the season?

We won the superbowl last year. After we won we had a party. When we win the bowl of super next year we are going to have a bigger party. We find it sad how you boast about winning exhibition games.

Who is we...you aren't one of those hillibillys down in Tampa. I got news for you. You are in unknown territory now. I'll bet that after week 1 when Philadelphia spanks your bootie, you'll be singing in even higher pitched tones. And yes you will be coming out to the stick this year, and we will bring it to you. This will not be an injured team, it will not be a Mariuicci team, it will be a Dennis Erickson team with some young and very fast recievers and backs. And you will be missing just a few individuals in that Tony Dungey designed offense. Chuckie got lucky last year. This year, I wouldn't count on it.

"Who is we?"

I can ask you the same question. You dont play for the niners. You're just some guy who watches them every sunday. Was just making fun of the fact that you say "we" as if you're a member of the team.
