Anyone have recommendations for a tattoo artist in Toronto who specializes in asian characters? I have an idea of the characters I want tattooed, but want to find a tattoo artist experienced in asian calligraphy because there are different style. In particular I am looking for someone who can ink asian characters in the cursive script style.

I don't know about specialists, but Ben at Yonge Street Tattoos is an amazing artist. I know a few people with his work and got one from him myself and they're all great.

I had one of the elders in my family draw the characters so I'm certain what it means. I've been holding off on getting this tattooed for two years and now I'm ready to get if done. I'm looking for a tattoo artist who has experience in Asian calligraphy to do this tattoo justice as there are several calligraphy styles.

I had a Chinese friend that played a game when he met young women with Chinese characters tattooed on them.
He would ask them if they knew what it said. They would usually reply with something bland like "luck" or "year of their birth" or whatever. He would say no, that's not what it says. Someone has played a cruel joke on you...it really says "I'm easy" or "Pay and Play". The reactions were pretty funny....but he didn't leave them hanging too long...he always told them the truth; eventually. :D
What was fascinating was how quick they were to believe him, just because he obviously looked like he knew what he was saying....and equally quickly disbelieved what they had thought it said, when they got it.

My SO has chinese characters on the small of her back, which spell her name. Since she works in a bar, occasionally it will "peek" out from under her top and over her low rise pants, and the customers will all ask "so what's it mean" of course. She will occasionally flirt with some of them (she IS a bar tender after all), but when the assholes start in on her she just responds with "Happily Married".
