Tariffs on Canada delayed for 30 days. Edit: The tariff war has begun.

By whom am I being played?

Walker industries handles Niagara's recycling, and reports on it. They are a private business who gets paid more for garbage (because they can't resell it). There's no incentive for them to under-report recycling.

Even in the overall-critical article I posted, they say that household recycling is 60%.

I encourage you to stop getting your news from Social Media clips.
I would say it's in Walker Industries' interest to perpetuate the idea that a great percentage of recyclable material is recycled.
I don't think they are an objective source.

That and scroll down to the very bottom of the page. It's all about taxpayer funding.
Walker Industries and that journalist have their hands in the green cookie jar together.

One more reason Trump's an idiot. He doesn't understand that putting tariffs on goods will lead to higher prices on goods for American citizens and result in higher inflation. Making life for his supporters (and everyone else) less affordable. Or, he knows exactly what will happen, which just makes him an asshole. I don't understand how anyone thinks what he's doing is a good idea.

Please quote me where I said that. Where I said those words.

I'LL wait.
You called my response a "useless excuse" rather than condemning name calling like I was doing.

In other words, you condoned it because in some strange way it jived with your narrative so you would rather let it slide than do the right thing or at least acknowledge it.

Did I get that right?

Did you think a government of billionaire oligarchs would be good for the common people?

I just paid a $325 tarriff for a $770 ergonomic office chair, which was 13% HST/GST + 25% tarriff. I made the order before the trade war started. Yeah, so you can guess how I feel about Trump right now. But that's small potatoes compared to the folks who are going to lose their jobs or livelihood over this stupid trade war - on both sides of the border.

Whatever policy wins Trump is aiming for, let's just give it to him so we can end this thing; but I have a feeling that at least some degree of tarrifs are here to stay for a long time.

No, you didn’t get it right at all.

I can be against both, but way to make an incorrect assumption and make false claims saying I said something I actually didn’t. Good job. 👍

If your only argument is anecdotal info and attacking my sources (which you didn't even bother asking which sources I use) then it's no surprise that the environmental lunatics found in government and other interest groups have fooled you.

There are certain collective delusions all societies rely on to survive — little lies we all quietly agree to look past to make it through our everyday. In Ontario, for decades, one of those lies was this: that most of the plastic packaging you clean and separate every week, that travels from your blue box to your curb and into a waste collection truck, eventually gets turned into something new.
https://www.thestar.com/business/li...cle_473fffa8-3a35-5ce4-a871-8c2d44bd7fd7.html

The United States, the world’s largest plastic polluter, recycles a mere 5% of its household plastic waste. Around the world, the situation is slightly better, but a staggering 91% of plastic waste is still incinerated, landfilled, or mismanaged (e.g. dumped into the ocean).
https://www.visualcapitalist.com/how-much-plastic-gets-recycled/

In Canada, for example, only nine per cent of plastic waste is recycled. Mountains of material collected in blue bins is piling up in landfills, being incinerated, or adding to the swirling islands of plastic flotsam that are choking oceans and killing wildlife. According to some experts, recycling is in crisis.

...and on and on...so run off now and make sure you sort your trash so you can feel good about yourself while more pollution is generated by putting on that sham.

He does. He doesn't care. He wants to generate revenue.

The argument is over when name calling starts.
Name calling is a sign of weakness and a typical distraction used when someone can't hold up their end of the argument. It's immature and desperate, done when someone realizes they've lost the argument.

In other words, you lost this one.

Sorry.
I agree it is over. I won.

You can cry all you want, it's not gonna change anything I said.

And when Trump is calling Justin "Governor Trudeau", you really seemed to enjoy it. You weren't calling Trump a loser.

In summary, I think the call went like this:

Trump:
"Remember when you made fun of me on several occasions? I do too."
"Go f*ck yourself Governor"
*click*
Mitch, give me a laugh.

I think he is simply quoting the article. An individual has no idea how much of their materials are being recycled.
I'm guessing the author was fed some stats by the recycling company and then they were repeated here.
Perhaps, but people investigating the issue and speaking with industry have assessed the percentage and it's nowhere near 60%.

I know someone in that business and they have told me in simple terms...you know that empty peanut butter container? Well unless you thoroughly cleanse it to remove any and all residue, it can not be recycled.
So imagine all that plastic that is contaminated that most people just put in their recycling box. It just goes to landfill anyway.

Most people don't know that. They just feel they are fixing the planet by throwing things in their blue box.

Meanwhile if you think about it, how much pollution is generated by that program?

Think about the entire chain of things that are needed to process that garbage: trucks, truck manufacturers, truck parts manufacturers, part delivery companies, bin manufacturers, bin delivery trucks, etc etc.
