Anyone else having problems with their lines?
Since Thursday morning, I have had a lot of periods when my connection is practically unusable.
Some connections simply won't go through. Others are horribly slow.

I used to get service interruptions (a few hours long), when there was storm. I called Bell
a few times, and they finally came to fix some lines or something. I've never had problems
since then.

I called 310-SURF over a week ago, when I was unable to get online for a full day. The recording said the service was experiencing difficulties in Toronto. Later that day I was able to surf again, but over one-third of my page loading attempts have failed since. It has been slow also. I've had Sympatico for years but never before experienced a problem.

It's weird. When I run the speed test from IGS, it's really, really fast. On the other hand, I can't connect to TERB at all. I have to use my "backdoor" to get in. (Haha, that's why nobody else is reporting problems...everyone with the same problems can't log in). So, my line is fine, but Sympatico Toronto is having some connectivity problems with the rest of the world.
A traceroute to TERB gets lost at chicagoequinix.savvix.net after 9 hops.

Bell and Rogers are both f**king jokes as far as customer service goes.

Once I replace Sympatico, both Bell and Rogers will be out of my life forever!

these people in india are extremely rude. Once I didn't have my personal information - my pin number - all that and I owed them quite a bit - so the india guy picks up and I tell him I have all my personal information, that I don't have my pin number and all that - couldn't find my internet bill - and I need to know how much I owe them. Nice customer service. So I tell him, so I owe you guys - so how the heck am I going to pay you if I don't know how much I owe? so you know what he says, "too bad for you". So he transfers me to an english speaking girl and she gives me perfectly good polite reception - I give her all my personal information and she tells me what I need to know.

Once I called and asked about geting limited internet instead of high speed - because I couldn't afford that much - 40 a month - so the guy tells me the prices and says if you download over the limit - then we're gonna NAIL YOU" and charge you extra for it.

wtf? You're gonna NAIL ME? lol wow

Half of these indian guys don't even speak english clearly - they have very thick accents and the service is horrible. wtf

Also, I don't know - but I keep getting disconnected every 15 minutes - I had this problem with my router a couple months ago - and (The Dlink company) they gave me a new updated patch to fix it - didn't have problems until a few months later. I figure its the same solution.

I'm going to try to fix it sometime tomorrow. Have you guys been having any problems similar - where you get disconnected every 15 minutes and then reconnected? cause it might be bell's fault?

If you guys can recommend a better internet server - i'm listening - but bell ain't so bad when it comes to pricing - or am i wrong?

Don't feel bad, my Rogers account has unusually lagged big time for the past two weeks. I suspect terrorism.

TekSavvy is a good replacement for Bell/Rogers.
They've been getting good reviews on dslreports forums.

You'll get at least what you are getting service-level wise compared to Sympatico, and perhaps better as the staff will actually work with you to improve your service (as far as your lines will allow), unlike bell who lower you to some low profile and leave it.

If you guys want to speak with someone Canadian instead of Indian, choose French as your language instead. Most of the French operators probably speak passable English...

What about plain old AOL Canada? It states that its high speed service for Ontario is 100x faster than 28.8 Kbps.

You guys really should try some of the smaller DSL providers, its a real breath of fresh air. You dial one number and get a person right away who is sitting in Richmond Hill and gives you a straight answer. Simple and the key to customer service.

Been with them three years and no BS at all.
