Children deemed to be at risk were taken from their families and abused as slave labour in Switzerland, but they're still waiting for an apology.
Not a whole lot different than the typical British Bernado Children experience around the world.
My grandpa and his brother were kids 8 and 9 to birth parents in a London working class slum, assigned to a home society and shipped to Canada.
Fortunately they were placed with a farm couple who could not conceive, and they treated these two like their own.
Lots of home children were treated worse than the farm animals they cared for in many small towns in Ontario and other Canadian provinces

Also, many Catholic Irish orphans were adopted by Catholic Quebec French families and allowed to keep their Irish names. Hence, it is not unusual to see a "Ryan" or "O'Neil" who don't speak English.
