Sweet Dilemma

I am not usually the shopper so I put the question out to you, is there such a thing as diabetic birthday cakes or possibly low sugar cakes? I have a close lady friend with a birthday coming up soon and want to surprise her with a cake of some sort, I have to put the candles on something!

Substitute the Sugar with Splenda. It works pretty good with keeping the same kind of taste with not actually using sugar.

Thanks for the help so far, but I was thinking more of purchasing a cake at one of the big name grocery stores. The Loblows, Dominions or various Independant Grocers.

I am not 100% on this but I think that Dominion has cakes that are Diabetic friendly.

You have to go to a bakery shop or a lady that bakes cakes on the side. Its best to use Splenda. In fact i had a lady make me a Bears super bowl cake the other day and everyone that ate it couldnt even tell the difference. If you are going to make it yourself it will take a few times to get it right.
