Their website says that lately they are taking 6.2 months to make a ruling for a case. The prostitution constitutional court challenge was mid-June this year. So we are coming up to the average time in a week. It will be interesting to see if they uphold the lower courts' decisions. Personally I would love to go to a local FKK type brothel. Never been to Germany but it seems to be the best mix of chilling at a strip club, checking out the ladies and then having privacy for any extra activities with the women of your choice.

I also think it would be hard for the Cons to devise anti-prostitution leglisation that would survive a constitutional challenge. Then again I'm just some knob on the internet so what do I know?

1. Rest assured that the high court and the government are not completely disconnected. Like the original lower court decision, the high court isn't about to strike a major criminal provision without giving at least some heads up to the lawmakers.

2. I agree partially devising a new law. That's why I'm worried that it won't be a similar law. It will be much worse. Also, in order for another constitutional challenge to occur, you're going to need a plaintiff and funding. Any of you guys want want to publicly argue your right to see hookers and have a million bucks to spare?

I've been wanting that type of model for years. I was actually talking to a buddy last night and saying that the next evolution for the adult industry in Toronto will be some combination of massage parlor and brothel. The MP's have already started to enter the high end spa world.

You of course can back this 'opinion' up? How 'not completely disconnected' are they? It quite possible than a single judge or two can be biased and have a 'tendency' to lean one way, but as a group they really balance things out and approach a theoretical grey area more often than not. Especially since in both Canada and the US they are appointed, not elected, making them basically untouchable by outside influences. the full time statisticians on tTERB can give the technical term for it.
