A while ago I saw a head on shot of an F14 tomcat doing that....pretty awesome......

If you're into fighters you might want to check out the discovery channel series "jetstream" about candidates learning to fly the hornet....was a pretty good series.

Breaking?? Last I looked both the speed of sound and the sound barrier was intact.
