Many people including myself believe/d that subway was the healthier choice. I have compared the two meals I would normally get at Subway vs. McDonads and was surprised how bad subway is not to mention all the preservatives they add to the meat. Because of fucking Jared we have been feed the lie and believe it is a "healthier" choice.

So today I decided to compare the calories because I am starting to keep track, and wow was I shocked at how bad Subway is. Mind you I picked their worse sub, but the rest are not much better, particularly their bread also their flat bread not much better.

I still ate the sub, but maybe might consider something else now that I know how bad it is, just look at the sodium

Here is the comparison:
Footlong Subway BBQ Rib on Honey Oat with Swiss cheese, lettuce, green pepper, cucumber and BBQ sauce
/
McDonald's Big Mac with Medium Fries

Subway/ McDonalds (Fries + Big Mac)

Calories. 1130 /(340 + 530= 870)

Fiber 16 g /(4 + 3= 7)

Unsaturated Fats** 25g/ (11.5+ 19 = 30.5)
Saturates Fats 14 g /(2.5 + 10 = 12.5)
Total Fat 39/(16 + 29 =45)

Carbs 147/(44 + 44= 88)

Protein 47/(4 + 23 = 27)

Sugar 27 /(0 +9 = 9)

Sodium 2220/(190 +970 = 1160)

Subway is not better than any other fast food, especially if you ask them to put ranch dressing on the sub like I do. All it is is an alternative to chicken, burgers, hot dogs, shish taouk, smoked meat, and pizza.
Jared that Subway used to advertise their subs as a healthy alternative to other fast foods was paid $15 million over the years to do commercials. That is quite an incentive to loose weight and keep it off..

I would eat at Subway every day as opposed to McDonalds. Your comparison is correct however not adjusted to compensate for serving size.
A foot long sub is considerably larger than a Big Mac. If you purchased a foot long sub on whole wheat bread and chose a low calorie dressing or mayo you would find the numbers are considerably better at Subway.
After the meal you will usually not only feel more satisfied with your sandwich but also more filled up.

But the argument for McDonalds is right..... it is only a healthier choice at Subway if you pick the right sub and toppings which to me defeats the purpose of getting the sub.
My sub is usually loaded with double meat and has a large amount of either honey mustard or mayo. Triple the calories of a Big Mac. But at least I didn't have to eat a Big Mac.

To each their own, I suppose. I'm not a big fan of the McVomitorium, but I find Subway to be even worse. I just can't fathom how they stay in business. And with the shit-tier baking they do now, every one of their fucking shops smell like a hobo's yeast infection. I'd rather eat a bug.

I get around.
I'd rather go hungry than eat at either of those places.
|2 /-\ | /|/ |2 /-\ | /|/ the healthier choice is for you to wake up 5 minutes earlier and make lunch at home.

And before that, hit up the St Lawrence or Brickworks (or whatever is local) farmer's market on the weekend to pick up higher quality products than you get at fast food joints. Your body and taste buds will thank you.

Firstly, a Subway 6" is more equivalent to a McDonalds burger than a foot long.

Secondly, I realize that it's not everyone's preference, but at Subway, I use mustard as my sauce - 6" roast beef on whole wheat. Can't get much healthier there.

Subway sandwiches are fine if you follow the small print:
- 6 inch
- Whole wheat
- Low fat meat
- No cheese
- No high calorie condiments like mayo, BBQ sauce, oily dressing etc...
- Water or low fat milk
- Total calories... maybe 500. Perhaps even less
- I'd estimate a 6 inch sub is about the same serving size as 1.5 sandwiches you can make at home

The vast majority of people do not order the above. Instead, they order something like this:
- 12 inch
- White, cheese, or honey oat bread
- Cold cut, philly cheesesteak, teriyaki chicken
- Cheese
- Some kind of sauce
- Coke, ice tea or juice
- Total calories.... maybe 1,500
- I'd estimate a 12 inch sub is about the same serving size as 3 sandwiches you can make at home

Subway makes their calorie count look better than it is because their nutrition menus state the bare bones order..... 6 inches, no cheese, no condiments. If you order 12 inch, double the stats of everything. Then add 100s more calories if you add cheese, condiments and bread that isn't whole wheat.

Subway is excellent at marketing. They also have two types of TV ads:

1. The healthy Jared type of ad. They promote healthy sandwiches that are 6 inches, 6g of fat etc...
2. The unhealthy ones where they state nothing about nutrition. The purpose is to promote the new "BBQ Cheesesteak" product which is always the opposite end of the spectrum vs. #1

Many people connect the fake dots thinking #1 and #2 are the same, but they are not. Nobody would connect a small burger and salad at McDonals vs. a Big Mac combo, but at Subway people think all sandwiches and sizes are the same.

What people don't know to is that Jared also got off his ass and exercised. I don't think any Subway ads (unless it's in the fine print) said Jared actually went to the gym and lifted weights for probably the first time in his life. He also went outside more and walked more, instead of driving everywhere.

That's like me saying I lost 20 lbs drinking a can of Coke a day. But not telling anyone that I started working out an hour day 7 days a week.

Exactly, they are great at fooling people with carefully crafted commercials into thinking it is the healthier choice. It is shocking how fooled people are with subway like you describe, and they associate all sandwiches there as the healthier choice.

I could never order a 6" sub and be content with it, especially one with roast beef and mustard, I'd rather make my own then or get a chicken shwarma or Mr. Souvkaki then. When I eat out I want to feel full. This is because every day I aim to burn between 4,000 to 6,000 calories and aim for 15,000 steps almost every day when I can with workout and a 6" bare bone sub just don't cut it.

He also started having a sex life. You know how many women want to sleep with a guy just because he is famous. My childhood friend was a over 300 lbs and rather stocky but in the media quite a bit. He was not much to look at but he got some serious attention wherever we would go from the women. Home run hitter any night of the week & we are not talking about pay for play.

Sometimes I'd get lucky too! Sadly,he is no longer with us.

Another thing about "healthy" Subway is that never mind the sandwiches, which can be fine assuming you stick to the 6 inch, low fat kind. But if you visit one, just about all of their side orders are the absolute opposite of healthy...

- Juice
- Pop
- Cookies
- Chips
- High sodium soup
- Breakfast sandwiches on high carb flatbreads with eggs and bacon

What is healthy is if you order a salad. But I don't think I've ever seen someone at Subway order a salad!!! I think I've seen more people order a salad from McD's or Wendy's! Figure that one out!

Walk into any big chain grocery store and these are the products put out on display. In fact in between the isles. And its all high sodium (Salt) or fructose (sugar) Killers ! both of them.

This. When I go to Subway, I usually order a 6-inch (plenty for me) turkey on whole wheat with lots of veggies and a mustard sauce. No pop or cookies. But I do put cheese on it.

The ironic thing is that salads, largely because of the dressing, have as many calories as bad items on fast food menus like fries, soda and even some hamburgers. If you want a salad at these places for low cal options avoid the fried chicken salads and ingest dressing in very small amounts

I don't order any other type of sub from subway other than an assorted on whole wheat, with some sub sauce.

From a health perspective, I don't know if it's lower than calories than something I would get at McDonalds, but I love the taste of the freshness. I get lots of veggies on my sub, so it taste nice and fresh as opposed to fried food.

BBL, you're better off eating at Taco Bell.

The Subway assorted is the worst of a very bad selection. You're eating processed meats most of which probably haven't been cured naturally, if they had the sub would be much more expensive. And if the sub sauce is made with palm oil, that's a whole other Pandora's Box. You get what you pay for, if they are still around go to San Francesco's.

I agree - subs are a lie , but WTF did you expect??

I feel sorry for those who bought franchises

They spent their life savings buying a bad job

I have cans of tuna in my car

I buy their garden salad with Italian dressing (although I do not trust their dressing, I want olive oil in mine with no salt) then put in my tuna

their tuna is full of mayo

Their bread is full of carbs and sugar and their meat is full of salt

here is another lie

a lot of people just cannot think for themselves

how do juicers " release " nutrients??

Do we even need more nutrients ??

How does a juicer remove toxins from your body ??

What toxins are removed and where is the scientific evidence for any of these far out claims??

What a juicer does do is release the sugars from the fiber so they are absorbed more quickly so you get fat

if you want to lose weight do not drink juice and stay away from the florida sunshine tree !

On the road with Willy
You shouldn't be eating that sh## everyday. Maybe once a month.
And has Slobway removed the foam rubber ingredient from their buns that keeps them soft and apparently fresh.
However if you want a really great sub go to Wegman's in the Excited States of Merica.
Unbelieveable size and quality. I'm sure it's off the scale calorie and sodium wise, but if you enjoy a sub once in a while, this is the choice.
It's like something you would make at home if you ever got all the ingredients together at one time.
I usually go in the morning and the one sub is my brunch and supper.
If you try to eat it whole in one go be prepared for a nap and new pants.
I'm an eater and a Slobway sub is modestly filling, Wegman's is a whole day meal.
Tell Monique or Michelle I sent you.
