I'm calling bullshit on you.

I know Justice Brian Weagant well and I am quite sure that class and wealth had nothing to do with his sentence.
Who cares who you know.
You're probably an upper class guy yourself.

There's zero proof in either part of your statement... We don't know that you actually know the judge OR that you know that his ruling has nothing to do with class or wealth... Is the ruling available online yet so we can see? I'm not making a judgement yet but it does seem a tad light but I don't know anything other than what was reported in the media.

He couldn't even be bothered to read his decision to the public.

I suspect that oagre is correct. I have met him and he is a straightforward guy. I know he is a lawyer so I think he is telling the truth when he says he knows the judge.

Not exactly true. The courtroom became unruly so the ruling was handed to crown and counsel and is available to the public.

All tis said I do not agree with the sentence. A custodial sentence, albeit short, within the provisions of the young offenders act, was called for. I am old testament and would have had them flogged.

Hey, hey... our education minister Stephen Lecce went there.

Wonder if he was getting it up the ass or giving it.

Ironic how the Minister of Education was a privileged private school brat. No wonder he is so out of touch in these collective bargaining negotiations regarding our tax funded schools!!!

Judging by how frequently he's on his knees for Ford, he was certainly on the receiving end.

2 years of probation for what they did to that poor kid is a fucking joke. Our justice system is fucked.

This is a forum on the Internet... anyone can say anything! Even you said you suspect and think he’s telling the truth... doesn’t mean much! I can say I met his neighbour’s dog walkers cousin and know he was bribed... who to trust? Credibility can’t be proven here so it can’t be used therefore calling bullshit doesn’t mean jack didly.

None of this matters really, the kids get to skate and the victim has to suffer... that’s the real issue and I’m sad

Your own logic applies to you. Likely nothing you have to say is of any merit and is open to question.

The kid who was sodomized is suing them already
You do realize 1.6 million buys alot of silence from a victim

The crown probably needed to accept a plea as only way to convict

The fact these rapists weren't tried as adults is the tell privilege was involved.

They tortured, humiliated and sodomized another human being. For laughs. That shows a fundamental character flaw.

They should have been tried, convicted and sentenced in adult court and labeled as sex offenders.

Wonder what the verdict would have been if instead of St. Michael’s College, it was students from Downsview high school, or Oakwood Collegiate etc....

Judge can be great but he still got it wrong.

They should have gotten jail time. Anything less then jail time for a sexual assault is unacceptable.

And I also think privilege played a part. Maybe more so in the use of great lawyers who can plead cases well but if this was a bunch of poor black kids, they would have been tried as adults and given jail time. There would not have even been a trial. They wouldn't be able to afford it and legal aid doesn't cover trails. So people can't say privilege didn't play a part.

I'm on the side of the judge got it wrong. And if you were to do a poll, I'd imagine that's the general consensus.

Question, what would the sentence be it they had shoved a broom handle up a female student's ass? Can you imagine the outrage if they walked with nothing more than probation?
