I have to say, the high visibility factor of this habit makes it the most legally vulnerable. Why take the risk?

Especially risky right now

I work in downtown KW, so it's easy to notice when the LE presence is high. Right now there are as many cruisers, foot patrols, unmarked cars and I assume undercover cops watching out for street action as I have seen in 6+ years downtown. Follow the advice of the others in this thread and take the actioni indoors to a suitable SP category of your choice.

LE Presence

I wouldn't be surprised if LE is moving on to clamping down on SP activity in downtown K. The new market opens up next spring. With that other tenants will be heading downtown too ( The Record).

The Howard Joel Munroe stabbing case is going to trial. That means a lot of LE manpower is freed up now to move on to other downtown activities.

I concur

My guess is they want the whole area around the new Market squeaky clean by the time it opens. I believe we're talking May 24 for the outdoor portion, with the permanent indoor market in late summer / early fall. Expect lots of heat on the streets until then.
