Toronto Star—Live web cams show work at a hastily cancelled Mississauga power plant is still going on.
Construction trucks can be seen pushing dirt around at the site here, even though the Liberals quietly announced they were axing the project on Saturday.
Both Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak and New Democratic Leader Andrea Horwath called the cancellation a cynical political move made by the Grits less than two weeks before the Oct. 6 vote.
Liberal Leader Dalton McGuinty denied he killed the plant to gain votes in Mississauga South, a swing riding. He told the Star on Sunday that his party decided to axe the project northwest of Sherway Gardens in response to a compelling argument put forward by people living in the community
Odd that "the Community" can evaluate a billion dollar project better than the Provincial Government. Perhaps we should hire the "Community" to evaluate future projects.

A wind power company caught by the Ontario government’s moratorium on offshore wind projects is suing the province for $2.25 billion in damages.
Trillium Wind Power Corp. filed a statement of claim against the province Wednesday.
Trillium has been planning a wind farm of up to 6oo megawatts in the waters of Lake Ontario near Kingston, 17 to 28 kilometres from shore.
It was halted in its tracks in February when the province put a moratorium on all off-shore wind projects, saying it needs to do further studies about possible health effects.
We must have missed either the story that said all the studies necesarry have already been conducted concerning the health effects of wind power projects on land, you know, where all the people live. Has someone told Samsung about this?

And a coalition of environmental groups is going to court seeking to block further progress on proposed new nuclear reactors at the Darlington nuclear station
Does anyone think Provincial Energy Minister Brad Duguid has this under control, or has the slightest idea what he's doing?
