Talked to him a few times on his show. He was always entertaining and a proud Leaf homer.

Ok? Weird thing to express on a post that’s about his suicide attempt.
Weird it may be but I despise both Norm Rumack and John Derringer for the same reason, their shtick was based on cruelty.
I have a tough time believing that Rumack made three suicide attempts and failed. One suicide failure and you become a ward of the State. He would have been placed in a sanatorium and loaded up with mood altering drugs. Once you convinced the Province that you are of no harm to one's self, you still have to report to CAMH for a year. By failing a suicide attempt, you have an open file with the Ministry of Health, upon discretion of CAMH.
At least our mental health regime is more humane than the American system.

He was a late night host on a sports call in show riling up grown men with nothing better to do than bitch about the Leafs.
Seemed pretty harmless and good natured any time I listened.
Also, not sure it’s really relevant whether you think the suicide attempts are legit, but shitting on him when he is clearly struggling (even if it’s just for attention) is the definition of cruelty.
I listened to the Late Night Vampire because it was entertaining and at times informative. I much preferred him to the arrogant POS McCown. I hope Norm gets all the help and support he needs to get himself better.
