What a matchup. In fairly recent years we have seen one player run away from the field in the final rounds at Major Field on a few occassions. The most prominent being Tiger in 1997 at Augusta, 2000 at Pebble, 2000 at the British and Rory at Congressional in 2011. But I can also remember Rory running away clearly in the back nine alone at Kiawah in 2013, and Spieth in 2015 Augusta. I am sure there have been a few others.

But I don't remember two guys clearly separating themselves from the field in score with 27 holes still to play like Phil and Henrik and then maintaining it and pulling a way a bit more as the tourney continues. And at the same time never separating by more than 1 stroke the entire time. Now 8 and 9 shots above the field as they near the back 9.

I can't stand Phil as a person, but he is a recovery artist. His recoveries have been amazing, though he has been really lucky to avoid penalties on his drives. Stenson strikes the ball really well, and his short game has surprised/

I hope it stays close, but some of these holes on the back 9 can be real swing holes, so I can see one player opening a 3-4 shot lead fairly quickly out of nowhere.

These 2 guys are playing on another planet right now. Should be an amazing finish. Rory had a great round today, too bad he couldn't put it all together from the beginning.

Anybody looking for good value on an in play Open Bet. Rory McIlroy is 40-1 right now in terms of getting a piece of third place. Will it happen probably not -- but at 40-1 it's a great bet, people do tend to lose a stroke or two coming home.

3 minute later EDIT - Calm and Holmes is past 10-11-12.... probably better to pass.

I'm not a fan of in play betting. 40-1 would have been somewhat enticing. But I'm not that lucky.

Phil is changing putting grip on the fly

He is at his best with his up and downs and showing his talent around the green

3 to go Phil down 2

looks like the first Swed to win a major

Wow what a putt to end it. Stenson shot the lights out. Congrats to him on his first major victory. Tough luck Phil, on any other day he would have shot well enough to win his 6th major. Incredible display of final round golf by these 2 competitors.

And this leads us to the Canadian Open which is once again on a horrible spot on the schedule (the week between 2 majors).

And I just heard the promo commercial for the Canadian Open, which goes something like this "To be considered a golfing great you must have a Canadian Open on your resume". Many likely immediate recognize the flaw and irony in this statement. As a Canadian Golf fan, I feel they are insulting our knowledge.

Why not play up the fact that Jack Nicklaus despite embracing this "Great Championship" by playing x times, was never able to win the Canadian Open.

Canadian Open used to be called fifth major

Their spot on the rotation keeps a lot of names away

Unfair

I would like to see them market the Canadian aspect of it

Mounties, moose on a spigot, Artic char, quality poutine, Canadian entertainment that represents Quebec and the east

Fans are there for the day and you need more than golf to keep them interested

Have golfers walk through the outside pubs between holes as the French step dancers play the fiddle

Have famous Canadians walk around signing autographs

Have a hole where the fans gather like the 17 at sawgrass

It would attract American fans as it is now it is just low level American PGA tournament. No reason for an American to make the drive North

Putting and chipping contests for the kids

Golf lessons at the range

A bungee jump

Think outside the box
