It appears that there is a new STD that is killing men and its related to oral sex. The Human papillomavirus (HPV) was once believed to have no effect on men, but it’s now found to be harmful to men as well as well as women. In fact, giving someone unprotected oral sex or receiving it from them if they are infected can seriously jeopardize your health. A new study has found a rapid increase in the number of throat and neck cancers over the last 12 years, with thousands of new cases occurring every single year.

BlackDoctor.org discusses the issue in more detail, noting that throat, mouth and neck cancers were once caused by tobacco use. But although the use of tobacco has declined, the rates of certain cancers related to HPV have been on the rise. The rate of STD infection is even greater in the black community, where a lower marital rate has led to an increase in the number of sex partners. One researcher at a major university told YBW that he randomly tested 20 men in a barbershop and found that half of them were infected with Chlamydia without even knowing it.

According to the Journal of Clinical Oncology, over 11,000 cases of cervical cancer will be diagnosed this year, but the number has been declining. Women regularly get Pap Smears, but men are less likely to go to the doctor. As a result, the number of HPV-positive oropharyngeal cancer cases will rise to 8,700, with 7,400 of those cases in men. The disease then festers within the mouth and throat of the victim, causing cancerous sores to emerge for those who are undiagnosed.

BlackDoctor.org discusses the epidemic in more detail. Get tested.

Though the human papilloma virus (HPV), a sexually transmitted disease with over 30 different strains, is recognized as the major cause of cervical cancer, many people are unaware that HPV can also cause oral cancer. According to Dr Helaine Smith, one of Boston's best cosmetic dentists, you don't have to have intercourse to transmit HPV; even oral sex puts you at risk for contracting the disease and raises your risk of developing cancers of the mouth and throat.

7400 cases in men? Sounds insignificant statistically. When the Ontario government started to offer vaccinations in highschool one of the facts they touted that more than 80% of women contacted HPV in their lifetimes and for nearly all there were no ill effects. Of course a high percentage of cervical cancer was blamed on this so obviouslt getting vaccinated held a lot of merit.

So of all the women giving blowjobs and all the men eating pussy 7400 doesn't sound like a big number. Sorry but the anecdotal statement that 50% of men tested randomly in a barbershop have the clap without knowing it - I'm calling total bullshit on that one. Takes away from the credibility of the whole post.

Uh Oh, looks like we should all quit hobbying. It's getting too risky. Better stick to porn and jerking off.

The vaccination is given to highschool aged girls but I thought they were also now giving it to boys? I may be wrong. I just went to the Doctor and asked for it. He said it was much more effective when given in late teens / early twenties but that it sure couldn't hurt. I had to pay for it but that's not an issue. I had to pay for the Hep B vaccine too ... small price for my health.
I have 3 teenagers, all very close in age. As such, they all went through the school system in rapid succession. My daughters both rec'd the vaccination in grade 8... nothing for my son.

This is depressing news. I got to find more research on this. Most likely shouldn't be concern?

This is one of those times when OG2 (a doc) made such a valuable contribution to the community.

I'm a lot more concerned about driving home on the 401 tonight.
The deadliest thing 99.9% of folks will do in their lives. Never think twice about it. But one story about a 0.00001% increase in the risk of "cancer" then WAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!ZOMGGG

Then there is risk avoidance. Men can avoid car deaths by not driving cars but men cannot avoid BBBJ. Men MUST HAVE BBBJ WITH STRANGE WOMEN (it is in their DNA).
