I dunno about this.......

The last Abrams Star Trek was truly a Piece of Shit and this one looks pretty much the same. They've taken a fantastic Science Fiction franchise and turned it into a common action movie. Some might, dare I say, label it a "the lowest common denominator" type action movie. (Well, actually, that's my claim. Cause it's true.) The Director - Justin Lin, his claim is to have been the Director of "Fast and Furious" movies. Well, that speaks volumes. And when you combine it with Abrams - Mission Impossible and the Star Trek Action movie reboot and now Star Wars, well, you pretty much know what you're in for. (And the trailer pretty much confirms.)

Both Star TOS and TNG were very much character driven shows. The Rebooted Star Trek, I dunno what the fuck it is.

Thank Vulcan for Crave TV which has all of the various Star Trek series available for on Demand viewing. I've just started rewatching some of the remastered Original Series episodes on Crave. I'd seen some of those so many times growing up as kid on TV that I knew the lines by heart.

Roddenberry is rolling in his grave

where are the characters that change social views

he introduced blacks, women , Orientals as leaders to a white America

his science was thought out and some of the plots were very creative and made you think

there is no art in an action film, nor is the repetitive plot interesting

shame

I agree with the Captain on this one (apart from the fact that we both serve in Starfleet). All new sci-fi somehow has the same 'look'. It looks like the same tech people work on them and they all look the same. The recent Star Trek re-boot was done to please the younger generation.

On the road with Willy
Nanoo, nanoo!
Stick a fork in it already.
The original was done with stories appropriate to the time.
Now they twist the plots around to explain how the stories go back and forth in time to keep the names of the original characters. It has little or no social relevance except to destroy shit in space.
Over and out.

Unlike Abrams McTreks the third installment is written by Simon Pegg. For that reason I'm prepared to give this a chance.

And let's not forget the trailer didn't show Idris Elba. He wouldn't have signed on if Pegg wrote shit.

Ummmmmm,excuse me ,but that's not her body:rolleyes:
Jerri Ryan's body is not hot

that is why she has not done nude IMHO

use time warp to bring her into the movie and use a body double

have her have sex with the Vulcan and see if either of them express emotion

it would make an interetesting and provocative scene

lots of shit you could do with the seven of nine character

I was beginning to think I was the only Trekker that felt that Jerri wasn't attractive or hot. The costume she wore was shaped and heavily padded and she could barely breath in it and apparently passed out twice: http://www.thegeektwins.com/2014/11/5-horrifying-facts-about-seven-of-nines.html#.VnGRdEorKV4

Why oh why did they have to cancel Firefly? Why oh why did we only get the one movie, Serenity? There was still no much story to tell, such a rich and diverse universe...
I 120% agree. Great sci fi, great stories and FABULOUS characters. Movie wasn't as good as the series IMHO and you really needed to have watched the series to fully enjoy the movie. Too many people just saw the movie and left disappointed.

and I thought I was the only one LOL

the costume makes her body and her makeup artist is the best in the world and her lips are probably man made

seven of nine is extremely hot

without make up or a tight costume jerri ryan is not

interesting facts on her costume follow

1. It Made Her Pass Out
In her first appearance, Seven of Nine appeared as a full Borg drone. When Ryan first put on her Borg uniform, the costume designers apparently didn't take the prosthetics into account. As a result, the collar kept pressing on her carotid artery, cutting off blood flow to the brain if she turned her head. It made her pass out on the set on at least two occasions.

2. She Couldn't Breathe
The first thing you notice about Jeri Ryan's silver catsuit is that it's tight. Really tight. The official explanation was that the catsuit was made of a revolutionary fabric that helped her skin regenerate. Translation: they wanted the costume to look as tight as possible. The producers wanted her uniform to look like a second skin, and they got it. Jeri Ryan said "if I got goosebumps, you could see them." In fact, it was so tight, she had trouble breathing. At one point, they had nurses on the set with oxygen tanks, which made them finally loosen it up.

3. The Breasts Were Constructed
The other thing you notice about the catsuit are the boobs. Let's face it, they look incredible, and there's a reason. Since the fabric was supposed to look like skin, they didn't want the fabric to do what it would naturally do, which is stretch from "high point to high point" (i.e. from one nipple to the other). That’s why they made what the costume designer called "breast mounds," individual shapes on her catsuit for each of her breasts. It took a special construction of the corset, what Ryan called a "feat of engineering" to achieve it.

Seven of Nine's corset underneath the catsuit
4. The Corset Kept Her From Bending
The other distinctive aspect of Seven of Nine's silver costume is the vertical ribs running along the sides. The in universe explanation for them is that they're leftovers from her Borg implants, mechanical ribs. In reality, they were just there to disguise her corset. Because the catsuit was so tight, they included a corset to give her a more hourglass shape. With the ribs built into the corset, she couldn't even bend over or sit comfortably. She was relieved when they introduced the brown catsuit which had a thicker fabric, taking away the need for the corset.

5. Bathroom Breaks Took 20 Minutes
Besides everything we've gone over, the worst part is Ryan couldn't take off the costume without help. That meant bathroom breaks were an ordeal so bad that they had to shut down the set. She said, "If I had to go to the bathroom it was a 20-minute production shutdown." At first, she avoided them by not drinking anything on the set. Then they started just taking the catsuit off after every take.

I saw her at a convention (I guess I'm about to be blasted) and honestly, I was a little disappointed in her facial features. She passed my group in the hall and was kind enough to stop for pictures and a brief conversation. Seemed to be a nice person, easy smile, looked us in the eye and wasn't obviously trying to avoid everyone. But not very pretty in my opinion. As 7 of 9, she is HOT!

My favourite Trek babe is this Orion Slave girl. This is the best picture I could find quickly. In the episode, her stomach appeared flattered, those boobs swayed and jiggled and the bum was a nice bubble.

I've always been a fan of Marina Sirtis. I've also met her at a convention in the restaurant, she sat at the table beside us with John de Lancie (Q) and chatted with us for an hour. She is quite attractive, funny and a very good public speaker. She's done some soft porn, although she was much thinner back then.

the sirtis character is known for cleavage

several costumes throughout the series and originally she was supposed to have 4 breasts

she hated having to show cleavage as she felt it dumbed her character down

I didn't know that! Thanks. She was probably right, when ST:TNG started, Trek had credibility for being focused on quality stories and social credibility.

That's funny, when I saw her, her boobs were barely covered. When she spoke at the convention she joked that everyone was too focused on her chest. She then spun around, hiked up her skirt to show her butt and asked the audience what we thought. The woman is a hoot and screams sex-appeal.

She's since had a boob augmentation and has gotten a little heavy. I have read she may also be doing another porn movie as she claims the offer is huge $$.

You grumpy old guys (and I can say that as a fellow old guy) are so wrong.

I grew up watching Star Trek, and love it, but going back now they are comically camp and heavy handed and slooooow. I think JJ did a great job re-booting the franchise and bringing humor and pace to beloved characters (and the casting is spot on).

Early reviews of The Force Awakening are universally very positive.

I think I was living under a rock. I watched the movie first....was left wanting more, and then found to my delight that there were 14 episodes. Lol there was even a thread about the movie when it came out in a forum I used to go to...I totally ignored it cause I had no idea what they were talking about. I even have some fan fiction in my head that I never ended up writing due to time constraints and real life...

Dark Matter is amazing too. Maybe not as good as Firefly, but similar premise that focuses more on the people and their interactions with each other.
I agree Dark Matter has strong potential. I just hope they are not too slow unraveling the various background stories. It's unfortunate, too many new Sci Fi series take tooooooo long to build and resolve sub-plots and they end up dieing (i.e. Extant, The Dome, Humans, Defiance, Helix, Killjoys ). LOST did it perfectly, several parallel interesting sub-plots were developed and resolved in 2-4 episodes with the main story evolving throughout. LOST kept me glued to my seat, but most modern sci fi bores me after a few weeks.

Have you been watching Expanse, I understand it's good.
