Well a big finale..... bring McCartney on stage.... do some old Beatles numbers.... it must have been really wound up and the crowd was probably really enjoying it..... a song or two to go....

and they pull the plug on the sound at about 10 minutes to 11PM.

London's noise curfew.

Anyone who's seen Bruce know he likes to bring the crowd to a frenzy at the end.

I'm not going to say anything because it won't be nice.

The other side of the story is that the curfew was 10:30, and the concert was supposed to have ended at 10:15, so they were allowed to play twenty minutes past curfew, and had actually gone on for a full forty minutes past what they had said.

What alternatives would you suggest: a punitive fine against the concert promoters? Against the performers? A total ban on concerts with amplification near residential neighborhoods?

The other side of the story is stupid when it's Bruce freaking Springsteen and Paul freaking McCartney playing a concert at 1030 on a Saturday. You let them play and deal with whatever stupid issues people have later. Being kept up until 1030 on a Saturday night never hurt anyone

Actually is was almost eleven o'clock and obviously you never had a child who couldn't sleep due to the music.

Now I might agree that say 11 would have been a more reasonable time, but it wasn't the time they had previously agreed to.

If curfew was 2 am, they would have tried to play until 3 am.
It's probably not just the noise but overtime would have kicked in for a lot of workers. Would Bruce pay the extra costs?

I would definitely want an exception for McCartney and Springsteen but then some assholes would want exceptions for Madonna or Brittany.

Bruce would and has paid the costs before.

According to reports, a quieter than normal show, on a Saturday night, not particularly close to residences.
No one came out of this particularly well.
He does have a track record of this to be fair.

Still....Really?

Which I suppose is why the concert promoters have agreed to all sorts of restrictions including the curfew due to the complaints by the "not particuarly close" residents?

It sounds like a great concert I think the encore was a fantastic idea, but pulling what amounts to a "do you know who we are" and that the agreed upon hard stop time didn't apply to them. . . . :frown:

If they wanted to do an extended encore did they explore starting early?

It is a very slippery road to start down that because it was Springsteen and McCartney the rules shouldn't apply. Somehow I doubt those saying but. . . would appreciate a 2:00 a.m. encore of the 1812 Overture complete with artillery and bells down the street because some group said to Hell with the curfew!
