i love the intelligent, educated sp's seeking discrete, upscale gentlemen.

Yep, one of my pet peeves, too.

Discrete = separate, distinct, disconnected, detached

Discreet = tactful, circumspect, careful, diplomatic

On second thought, maybe those SP's who are seeking discrete gentlemen are discreetly saying that they don't want to see Siamese (whoops! - CONJOINED) twins! ;)

No offense meant, but one of my pet peeves is members who focus on the minutia of a fellow member's post rather than recognizing the contribution.

Respectfully,

advertising ...

these are mistakes that are found in newspaper ads or on web pages ... first impressions mean a lot especially if you are trying to cater your services to an upscale clientele...

Take care of your own backyard.

I agree fully on the spelling issue.....However I am not sure you are the right person to point this out. You do a lot of advertising, for others, with out of date information. I have only looked in the Hamilton parts and have notice that a large percentage of the phone no.s are incorrect or disconnected.

I am not complaining here......even though it may sound like I am. I do appreciate what it is you are doing and just want you to know that you should check out some of those no.s and remove them or change them.

Keep up the good work and I truly do apprecite what it is you are attempting to do.

I see that one a lot, I know it's even used by intelligent people but it still sticks out for me.

Ladies, please check your copy.

when you are looking for someone good with a rake you will likely not be seeking a Harvard Grad.

Primarily because the Harvard grad would not know how to use the rake.

Weren't you fixin' to say "continue on"?

Just got back from the states and also listened to the painful Daytona 500 sportscasters. My gawd those people say way too much to say what they are saying.

-Well ah'm gonna go ahead and start fixin' to fix dinner.

Why, is it broke? -no "N". Is it wrecked?

And what is with all the prefacing every action with "go ahead"?

You'llin bees right on that score there good buddy. thems folks sures do like to stretch ouuut the sentence when they's be gotten nuttin to say.

And youse guys...guess what? The plural of "you" is actually "you". Using "youse" just illustrates a lack of class and education IMO.

Now if someone speaks English as a second language then I will cut them some slack. Heck, when I speak my Montreal French I know it hurts the ears of Montrealers as well as the folks from France.

When you are born and educated in English Canada you should be able to speak and write English properly.

I believe that language skills are an important factor in how you present yourself to friends, family and business associates. There is nothing to be ashamed of if you drop the street language in favour of proper grammar. You may have the best hair, tan, wardrobe and the fanciest car but you will lose me when you open your mouth and speak poorly.

I find that SP grammar and spelling is almost always sub par as far as professional communications go. Not that I care.
