Speaking of traditional TV providers...

I cancelled my cable last year sometime. Kids have all moved out, and I just don't watch regular TV much at all, so I didn't see the need to shell out $80 a month any longer.

Still, occasionally, something comes along that I wouldn't mind watching. I was at the Outdoor Adventure show last weekend, and came across these Internet Streaming boxes. I guess they are Android based.

Agr8TVbox: http://www.agr8tvbox.ca/products.html

And MyMatrix TV: http://www.agr8tvbox.ca/products.html

From what I understand, pretty much everything on mainstream TV is also available via live streaming...

Anyone know anything about these things? Are they reliable? Worth the $250-$300 with no monthly fees?

So close and yet so far.
I have this one: http://avov.tv/

It's okay. Reliable. Lots of channels (especially porn), and lots of movies still in cinemas (although quality can vary greatly, just like the bootleg videos you get from the Pacific mall). Pretty much all the channels we get on Bell TV, plus lots more from around the world. We still have Bell TV so we don't actually watch a whole lot of "normal TV" on it.

Picture quality is not nearly as good as satellite or cable--barely HD in most cases. Picture stutters once in a while, freezes up occasionally. Lots of promised channels are "not available at this time". Probably better than nothing though, as you can almost always find something to watch.

Thanks Bolt... Most of the content I watch these days is Netflix and or movies I can download on Torrents sites.

People that come from other countries often love it. You can watch live programming from just about anywhere in the world. These days I guess you can do the same on the Internet, but it's probably easier with a dedicated box, and on the big TV. For someone born and raised in Canada, I'm not that impressed--I'm not really interested in news from Russia or Brazil.

Stick with Netflix and whatever you can pick up with a cheap antenna as far as I'm concerned.
